Loves Hill Camping

Mi è piaciuto A lovely, peaceful campsite and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The large field allows lots of space between tents and plenty of locations to choose from. The owner was welcoming and friendly. The site, including the facilities, were well-kept. The hot drinks and breakfast baps from the trailer in the morning were amazing - with ingredients sourced locally.

Mi è piaciuto Quiet, rustic camping fields. Mowed areas to provide private spaces, almost didn't feel like we were on a campsite, perfect.
All basics, compost toilets, 4 showers, sinks and a communal fridge. Water taps, bins, recycling located around the site.
It was soooo hot and loved our stay. Just a shame it is only open during peak summer months.
I would definitely return if in area.

Mi è piaciuto Loves Hill Camping is in a fantastic location for exploring both Bristol and Bath, making it a great base if you're travelling around this part of the country. The campsite itself is beautiful, peaceful and surrounded by stunning countryside views.

The facilities are simple but perfectly functional. There are compost toilets, and the showers are clean with lovely hot water. The washing-up facilities are cold water only, but were perfectly adequate for our 3 night stay.

The site manager is extremely friendly, affable and welcoming. There's a lovely little onsite shop where you can buy bacon rolls, teas and coffees, which is a really nice touch when you're camping. There's also a charging point where guests can charge phones and other devices, which we found incredibly useful.

There is a small village nearby with two shops for basic essentials, while Lidl and Sainsbury's are approximately a 14-minute drive away for a larger food shop.

Overall, a beautiful campsite with lovely views, a welcoming atmosphere and a particularly convenient location for visiting both Bath and Bristol.

The surrounding local area wasn't particularly to my personal taste. There were quite a few abandoned-looking buildings and, if you're looking to explore on foot, there wasn't much for us to do within walking distance apart from visiting the local pub.

I was also travelling as a single parent with my 16-year-old daughter, who is still classed as a child/minor. The campsite charges £12 per person, and I personally felt it was a little steep to pay the same rate for a 16-year-old as for an adult. I think a reduced rate for children and young people would make the site more affordable for families, particularly single-parent households.

This is very much a personal preference rather than a criticism of the campsite itself, which we thoroughly enjoyed.

Mi è piaciuto It was a great friendly campsite with all the basic amenities as per the description. Nick was a helpful and friendly host and was an interesting man to talk to with his diverse farming background. It was a beautiful location, and Id wished Id stayed longer to go on some local runs and walks direct from the campsite.

Non mi è piaciuto Although I slept for 5-6 hours soundly in my 5 man tent, I discovered on my journey home that I had been badly bitten by harvest mites which I assumed came from the campsite. I believe they love the hot weather and thrive in the long grass, so I got caught out badly. They must have transferred onto my mattress when I unpacked it onto the mown grass, or via my trainers. Next time I will come prepared with insect repellent, and be a lot more weary of what I come into contact with.
A less serious issue I had was that there was no mirror to floss my teeth and to check that I looked presentable. I had to use my interior car mirror!

Mi è piaciuto Loved how the pitches are spaced out into little group areas so everyone's not on top of each other. Quiet too. The owner came round and introduced himself and super friendly. Breakfast food available while I was there from 8.30-10.30am.

Mi è piaciuto Nice big pitch all to yourself, super cheap, hot showers, the best style of camping toilet in my opinion - compost long drop. Short walk to nice pub and the cafe is so so good for breakfast. Felt safe there as a solo female camper. Everyone was really nice and they let me stay for another night that was unplanned.
