Mi è piaciuto The site was quiet. The shop was well stocked. They did move us to a non ant infested hut for the second night. You can park right next to your hut, which is convenient. There was wifi. The area was pretty.

Non mi è piaciuto The first hut was infested with ants. Literally hundreds and hundreds of them crawling up the walls and all over the counter and shelves. It also had cobwebs in the corners, and insect cocoons in the window frames. The bin was also full of the last guest’s rubbish- so I don’t think it was well cleaned.

We didn’t realise this till about 10 pm- but texted the contact number to see if we could get help. No reply. The next morning we got a text saying we should have called. No apologies or solution. Just “you should have called” the poster with contact number said contact- not call- but anyway. I went to find the site manager in person the next morning who did, after I requested it, allow us to swap shepards huts.

The ladies toilet and shower block was also not well cleaned. It wasn’t clean when we got there- I noticed various rubbish in the shower, smears and hair stuck to the shower wall and rubbish on the floor which did not change over our stay. I strongly suspect therefore, that over the two nights we stayed the bins were not emptied, the one shower not cleaned and the floors not swept.
I did notice they were advertising for a cleaner via a poster in the shop window- so maybe this is the problem?

The sofa beds in the shepards huts were stained, dog haired and very uncomfortable. We stacked both of the mattresses on the floor and added two mattress toppers and slept on that. Obviously not a solution if there is more than two of you staying!

There are blinds at the two windows-but not at the door window. I woke at 4.20 both mornings when the sun streamed through it. A blind would be useful!

It was very hot in the hut. Obviously it is summer and to be expected- but a fan would have been super useful and appreciated . A heater is supplied, so why not a fan for summer? Or the opportunity to rent one maybe? Or mesh for the windows so you could leave them open all night without loads of moths and mosquitoes coming in?

It was such a shame that these issues arose, as this could have been such a nice hut and site.

Mi è piaciuto Very good. Clean campsite. Nice atmosphere. Fields for play/sport. Good location near the sea.

Non mi è piaciuto Would have like another shower. But only queued once as there’s bathrooms in the pods and mobile homes.

Mi è piaciuto Great location, friendly staff. We stayed in a glamping pod which was really well designed and great value at £90 per night.

Mi è piaciuto The location was great for Southwold and neighbouring areas. Shop very reasonable and well stocked. Nice quite site and well spaced pitches. Facilities very clean.

Non mi è piaciuto Unfortunately we felt extremely uncomfortable in the hut. It was extremely hot and we were getting bitten by mosquitoes and didn’t want to open the windows for fear of being bitten. The futons had seen better days and weren’t comfortable for two people. I had to rely on a friend to give me a blow up bed to sleep on. There was enough room for the blow up bed. In the cooler temps you’re fine. I suppose it’s dependent on the weather. I think I would have been more comfortable in a tent to be honest - especially in the heat. Microwave and fridge great. Fridge big enough for all your essentials.

Dal gestore: I'm afraid we are not in control of the weather or mosquitoes, but there are two mattress toppers supplied for the futon sofa beds.

Mi è piaciuto Peaceful location, the huts are well spaced out & parking next to it was very convenient. The staff were friendly & the shower & toilets were clean. Loved the donkeys & having the lake & walks nearby. Locals & other campers were chatty & friendly. We walked to the nearest shuttle bus stop for latitude festival for £8pp & got a taxi back for £17. It was nice to be somewhere with very little light pollution & sit out on the picnic table to look at the stars. Great to have a fridge, kettle & microwave & water tap near the hut.

Non mi è piaciuto Cabin 1 had a major ant problem. They were on the work surface, fridge, microwave, across the floor & on the bed by the fridge. We were bitten in the night & struggled making breakfast. The bin was taken over by them when we threw away our evening meal wrappings. The futon beds were ok for 2 nights but I would struggle for longer. One bed was quite unstable & felt like it was closing on you when you moved in the night.

Mi è piaciuto Great location, easy to find and close to some lovely beaches and towns. The campsite was quiet. The pod was comfortable and had everything that we needed. The wifi worked well for us. It was great to have the nature trail and to be surrounded by open fields. My children loved being able to play football and rounders.

Non mi è piaciuto Although it was generally clean, we did find some dust and tissues under the bunk bed.
The bunk bed mattresses were uncomfortable but my children managed to sleep ok regardless after a busy day of activities.

Mi è piaciuto The peace and quiet is a real winner.
Lots of space for children to play safely and great location.
The pod was clean and beds were comfy. And the shower was hot and powerful.
On-site shop was an extra and the location is close enough to a range of activities by car.
Staff lovely.

Mi è piaciuto The shop, very friendly lady. Site very tidy.
Slightly regimented in rows but easy hook up and water. Loads of space if you have children.
Would recommend for families with children.

Non mi è piaciuto Only one shower for women if the site was full likely to queue, only 2 loos. Only ONE loo in mens toilet.The fact there were NO dog poo bins you had to use one across the road. The beautiful nature trail had 4 lots of dog poo on the paths, sad as this is for children too.

Dal gestore: We expect guest to be to be responsible with there dogs, but we are afraid not all guest are! the dog poo bin is a 15 second walk off site.
We also have a family room/disabled shower/toilet that can be used by everyone.
We don't actually have people queuing.
