Larkrise Holiday Site

Mi è piaciuto Open field, relaxing atmosphere, friendly host. Definitely a lovely no frills campsite, right up our street. Certainly different pace of life to be woken in the early morning by cockrels!

Mi è piaciuto We were met by the owner who was very pleasant and helpful.
The site itself was very good. Fairly flat, nicely kept grass, remote & peaceful during the day with plenty of space for the grandkids to run about and play. There is a 3-3.30 am wake up call from the cockerels but it is a working farm and to be expected so no complaints from me! They do eventually go quiet again giving you time to nod off again.
The kids from the farm came and played with the kids in our group, which was good to see. Logan is quiet but adorable!

Non mi è piaciuto There is slight road noise heard from the A15 at night if like me you’re a light sleeper.
The toilets/showers could do with a little more attention only by the fact that they aren’t cleaned regularly enough.

Mi è piaciuto When we arrived, a polite gentleman showed us our pitch and it was also the only pitch with some shade (grateful as it was a very hot bank holiday weekend)! Spacious pitch and large area which was great for our little one to kick a ball about! The owners were friendly and checked in to make sure everything was ok. There were some shops in the nearby village which was a 5 minute drive away which was handy. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!

Non mi è piaciuto The toilets/showers were quite dirty as people were treading mud/grass into there. There was a mop and bucket outside but sadly people didn’t clean up after themselves so it wasn’t kept clean.

Mi è piaciuto Owners were welcoming, area was lovely & quiet (other than the cockerel that starts crowing at 3.30am!) Pitches were a good size, showers were hot, very small shop on-site with locally sourced sausages. The site is safe & secure, gates are locked at night (code given) A lovely lady called Stacey helps out there and was super helpful and even had some local honey delivered for my husband.

Non mi è piaciuto This has the potential to be a wonderful site, sadly two things let it down. Firstly there is no outdoor sink to wash dishes, the sinks in the toilets are tiny, you can barely wash your face in them and they have no hot water so you can’t wash them in there.
Secondly, as lots of people have mentioned, the toilets are dirty and the showers are filthy and mouldy.
We stayed for a week and not only were the bathrooms not even cleaned once, the bathroom bins weren’t emptied at all either. There’s a mop left outside the door which I used to clean the bathroom on two occasions as the floors were filthy.
Sadly this really lets the site down, other campers we spoke to said they would not be returning and I think we wouldn’t either.

Definitely a shame, that something so easy to fix lets down such a potentially lovely site.

It is clear enough there are no bells and whistles here...hence no pot wash.
The toilets and showers are indeed cleaned regularly. The mop is there so if people tread in mud in between times they can clean up after themselves. The field is after all a grass site. This is a rural location and we have a number of returners who are content with how things are. I am not sure this party got the ethos of this site. This is a place we hope can be enjoyed without some of the more bothersome behaviour of urban life.
Perhaps this site is simply not the right sort of venue for this party.

Just a wet, boggy field.

Didn’t even stay because it was so poor. Ended up getting a last minute hotel

Dal gestore: The camp site description says there are no bells and whistles and it is a large field. The moral of the story is to read the description. We have clients who return year after year because they love the fact that we have a big field on which they can spread out and their children can run about away from traffic. If you expect concrete roads and flood lights there is nothing in the description to indicate we have them. I am sad this customer stayed about 1 minute only and did not have the opportunity to sample the country atmosphere.
