A aimé Warm welcome. Johnty, the campsite owner, is on hand to ensure everyone is happy and has what they need. A lovely, ever-changing campsite community. Very special.
There’s a friendly local pub half a mile down the road which serves good beer and excellent pub grub.

A aimé I stopped off at Mendip Ski Camp on a cycling trip to the Wye Valley. The site is easy to find and only a mile from the Strawberry Line cycle route. The camping fields are on a gentle slope backing onto The Mendips. There is a small and well-maintained toilet/shower block at the entrance to the camping grounds.
The site is within walking distance (up to 20 minutes) of several pubs that serve food but check opening times (Mondays are limited), and the Thatcher’s brewery and pub are in the nearest village of Sandford. There’s even a library (of sorts) in Churchill if, like me, you find yourself alone with no reading material.
The proprietor is friendly and took an interest in my journey - yep, I made it to Chepstow and beyond to the Wye Valley. Thanks for your hospitality.
N'a pas aimé I camped in the lower field which is close to the facilities but also within hearing distance of the A368. It wasn’t overly intrusive but as a cyclist it reminds you that cars exist and detracts from the wilderness experience! The upper field would probably give you a wilder, more peaceful experience.
