What’s on your wishlist for a Wiltshire outdoor break? A peaceful location? Easy access from a main road? A village close by so you can easily walk to a pub and shop? Somewhere family friendly that also accepts dogs? If you said ‘yes’ to any – or indeed all – of the above, you’ll most likely be rather taken with Piccadilly Caravan Park, in a rural spot 10 minutes’ walk from the National Trust village of Lacock. That handy position means you’ll have several lovely pubs and independent shops close by. As well as being handily within reach of all that, the park is only a little way off the A350, putting it in a good position for getting out and about to explore the rest of what Wiltshire (and beyond) has to offer. Day trips to Bath and Longleat are easily doable in less than 45 minutes’ drive, and there are all sorts of walks and bike rides to be enjoyed locally. Around the site’s well-kept grounds are hedges for privacy and a good collection of facilities, including picnic areas, a small playground and a designated games field where the kids can have a run around. Dogs, too, have a dedicated exercise area where they can stretch their paws properly. Showers, toilets, a washing-up area, a launderette and wifi are also part of the picture, and the team here prides itself on keeping the facilities clean and the grounds in excellent shape.

Ce camping bien entretenu, propre et paisible est très apprécié pour sa situation idéale près du village de Lacock. Les visiteurs louent ses installations impeccables, y compris des blocs sanitaires récemment modernisés. Les vastes emplacements, le terrain pour chiens et l'aire de jeux sont également des points forts. A aimé Facilities were clean and fresh. Love the fresh flowers in the ladies, gorgeous ☺️. Very short walk to town for a mouch. Kids loved the park, coffee pod was great. We didn’t have the pizza but spelt amazing.

A aimé Well tended site with very caring and helpful owners. The facilities are clean and well appointed. And each pitch is spacious with plenty of room between pitches. It’s a short walk from the lovely Lacock. We’ve stayed several times already and it’s a site we will return to.

A aimé Very neat & tidy site. Toilets & showers were spotless we were really impressed with them. The owner came around on our day of arrival to greet us and ask if there's anything we needed which is a nice touch.

The local coffee trailer does very nice coffee which is reasonably priced. We would stay there again.

A aimé Spacious site, excellent facilities kept really clean. Ideal location for visiting National Trust Lacock, a short walk away - care needed crossing a busy main road but good visibility.
Coffee truck on site in the morning, excellent coffee to start the day!
Clear instructions before arrival and visit from owner in the evening to check we were settled in OK.

N'a pas aimé Would have liked a little more room around the Men's wash basins as nowhere to put wash bags or hang a towel, and very cramped when three people were trying to use the three basins at once. Also got a bit steamy when showers in use and windows hadn't been opened.

A aimé Excellent site with excellent facilities short third of mile walk into picturesque Laycock village largely owned by national trust with 4 pubs and several cafes, laycock abbey ticket expensive, campsite pitch is preallocated to you to drive onto at arrival would thoughly recommend and will revisit again .

As well as centuries-old traditional pubs and several jewellery or design shops, Lacock is home to a beautifully restored tithe barn dating from c.1230. On the outskirts of this gorgeous National Trust-owned village is an 800-year-old abbey that’s had starring roles in both Downton Abbey and the Harry Potter films; the Fox Talbot photography museum is set in the abbey grounds. Other big-hitting attractions in this corner of Wiltshire include the magical Avebury Stone Circles, which link to a mysterious man-made mound at Silbury Hill (both half an hour’s drive). From there, you can continue the prehistoric theme with a visit to spectacular Stonehenge (45 minutes) and its interactive visitor centre. Coming more up to date, Caen Hill Locks (20 minutes) on the Kennet and Avon Canal comprise 29 locks rising 237 feet over two miles and were designed by engineer John Rennie in 1810. There are golf courses and events galore held at Bowood House and Gardens (15 minutes’ drive), while picture-perfect Castle Combe (20 minutes) has repeatedly been voted one of the prettiest villages in the UK.
