Larkhill Cottage Camping and Caravan Site

A aimé It was an amazing campsite, my girlfriend and I really enjoyed our stay even if we only stayed one night.

We had no issues at all, the directions given by Claire were clear and easy to follow and everything at the site is well signed so all is clear. We will definitely be coming back and probably for a longer stay.

The weather was a bit all over the place during our stay but Claire still came out to make sure everything was okay and she was so friendly and was willing to help with any issues.

The facilities were spotless so there isnt anything to complain about.

The signal is very hit and miss but there wasn't much need to use technology anyway.

N'a pas aimé Facilities lacking, only 2 toilets and 1 shower (on a £1 per use meter). Also the lock on the shower room don't really work.

I am very fussy on cleanliness so am surprised you didn't give 10/10. Nevertheless, thank you for your more positive comments.

A aimé Was brilliant, sign for the pitch on arrival. Friendly host. Good camp facilities. Good indoor space for campers to cook / make tea coffee. Nice animals. Peaceful.

Réponse du gestionnaire : Thank you for your review. I'm sorry but I have to charge for the shower to stop people from monopolising. My prices are very reasonable. For pitches without electric I provide hot water all day in a free kitchen with another toilet. Therefore my site is extremely good value for money as many sites do not provide a kitchen. Nevertheless, I am pleased you enjoyed your stay and you would recommend.

A aimé We weren't able to get to the site until 9pm, Claire was still there waiting to greet us.
Lovely small campsite
Horses, Hens and cats for the kids to see
Facilities were clean, plenty of space in the fridges and freezer to store things as well as two microwaves and Kettle in the kitchen.

N'a pas aimé flys were a mare on setting up - but thats what you get when you try set up in the dark and you have a head torch on!!
The locks to the toilets were a little tempromental
There was no phone or internet signal on site until half a mile down the road at the crossroads.

Réponse du gestionnaire : Thank you for your review. I'm sorry the lock on the toilet behind kitchen was stiff I didn't Realise, I will put some wd40 on it. The phone signal in the whole area is very hit and miss. Some days I have no signal at all in my house. I've been on and on to Fleur telecom ever since I've lived here, thirty one years, and they say there's nothing they can do to improve the service which is a pretty poor show on this day and age!

A aimé Booked here for 2 night initially ended staying for 3. Very relaxing. Being on a motorcycle and limited to what I could bring I made use of the kitchen which was kept clean and the fridge and freezer was put to use for food. The owner was very accommodating and friendly. Would recommend. Great for fishing across the road. 👍

A aimé Iv just returned home today after a beautiful weekend at larkhill cottage campsite and within a hour we rebooked.

A aimé Hard to find anything to say, nice view of the stars when it was a clear night.
There was a little room off the kitchen with armchairs, probably would have been good in the rain. Chairs needed cleaning though.
Communication was good though, the lady rang and left a voice message telling me how to get to my pitch in case she wasn't around.

N'a pas aimé Only one toilet and one shower for the whole site, around 30 people were there when we stayed. Also the shower required a pound coin to run. And there was no toilet paper, although the kitchen had plenty of washing up liquid and sponges.
A lot of wasps nests around the field so consequently a lot of wasps. I know its just nature, but nests in a campsite isn't great.
All in all it felt like a site that had been neglected, with a little care and a bit of creativity it could be a lovely site.

Réponse du gestionnaire : My campsite is never neglected. I. Patrol all day to make sure the facilities are clean. It does say on. Pitch up to bring your own loo roll. You texd me to say the shower smelled and was dirty, in fact I was there cleaning when I received your.message. It certainly did, not smell. When there are lots of. Campers especially with children there may be times when a child or even an adult may not clean the shower or toilet after themselves. I simply cannot control wasps. My property covers four acres and is in the middle of hundreds of acres of open countryside. There are in fact two toilets not one. My scores are generally ten out.of ten therefore I find your comments an insult.

A aimé This was our second stay here. Only 45mins away from home, but far enough away to fully switch off.
Claire(the site owner) had been thrown off her horse only two days before our arrival, yet she still hobbled around the site, neck brace and crutches, to check everyone was ok and settled. What a woman!
The site is small, with a well equipped kitchen. There’s chickens, a rabbit and horses on site which my boys loved. They even helped feed the chickens.
The toilets are kept very clean(bring your own loo roll).
The pitches are well spaced out.
We originally booked to stay 2 nights, but ended up adding on extra nights as we were having such a lovely time. Claire was very accommodating.
There is a co-op just 5 mins drive away and Sainsburys is in Whitchurch, for any essentials.
Thanks for a lovely break. We will definitely be back
