It's a breeze to get down to the coast from this site in Gwynedd, as The Mill Caravan Park and Camping Site is a mere two miles from the beach. Set on the edge of the peaceful village of Llanbedr, close to Snowdonia National Park, it’s also well-placed for waterside wanders, as the peaceful river Artro can be accessed a few metres from the pitches. Being so close to the village centre makes staying here a fair bit easier. In terms of food, Llanbedr's shops, restaurants and pubs are five minutes away on foot. Transport-wise, there are buses, the A496 that heads up into the mountains and, on the western side of the village, Llanbedr railway station (about 20 minutes’ walk). Back on site, you'll be settling down in the main site field, a wide open space with vistas over a thickly forested hill. Barbecues and dogs are welcome here. The Mill Caravan Park and Camping Site is popular with family groups, motorcyclists on road trips around the national park and Duke of Edinburgh groups, who regularly stop off here to take advantage of the great views and transport links. The fact that the Welsh coast is so close is another big plus: Barmouth and Harlech are 15 minutes' drive from site, while the pastel-coloured houses of Portmeirion are 25 minutes away.

A aimé I found this to be a great site, on the smaller side, which was perfect. Owner John very helpful and chatted with everyone on arrival. Was made to feel very welcome as a single female traveller. Pitches were spacious and flat. I know sites vary with users but there was a good mix of returns and newbies and quite a few of us swapped stories and had a brew and I felt that this would be a new site to visit regularly. I didnt visit the pub or shop but John explained opening times and recommended buys. The toilet/shower block was clean. Very few cars passing during the day and nothing heard overnight.

N'a pas aimé Felt recycling area was a little small but only due to one party having lots to recycle, the bins were full, not a bad thing, maybe an extra box or two may help when busy?

A aimé Lovely camp site no messing about what you see is what you get. Have toilets and showers not far from waterfalls and some lovely eating places and pubs

N'a pas aimé Absolutely terrible, do not stay here!
Was meant to stay 2 nights from 25th July, but left after 1 night due to not feeling safe with just myself (female) and my young daughter on this small site in front of owners house. They were away for the weekend and left their son in charge to go and find out who had paid, he didn't have a clue, yet there was initially only 6 of us there the first night, the other 5 swiftly left the next morning. There appears to be an odd set up with people staying on another part of the owners adjacent land. A man approached me asking if i was staying and whether the owners were home. He said he lived in one of the static caravans for part of the week. Shortly afterwards he walked his dog off lead in the site i was pitched, kept looking over at my daughter and i packing up by this point due to safety concerns.
I tried to phone the owner, no answer. The son had clearly been able to get in touch with his mother though, as i received a text stating it is a safe site with no issues before covid?? And that i must be projecting my anxieties on to my daughter?? Again, very strange, and quite rude communication.
Save yourself a journey to here and stay somewhere else. The amenities, toilet, showers are in a poor state of repair also, not worth the money.

Attractions à proximité

Beach time at Barmouth (15 minutes' drive) will keep the kids happy in fine weather, while for a bit of high-adrenaline adventure there's also the go-karting on offer at Glasfryn Parc (45 minutes) or Zip World Fforest (45 minutes), home to Wales' famous forest rollercoaster. For the bravest thrill-seekers, this site is also conveniently close to Skydiving Snowdonia (five minutes). Hiking up mountains such as Snowdon (50 minutes) in the National Park is another popular option. Cader Idris (an hour and 10 minutes) is also a very popular peak and has great views over southern Snowdonia, plus you'll often get the chance to see planes zooming over the Mach Loop low-flying aircraft practice area on its eastern flank. There's also a lot of history around these parts, as these ancient hills have been inhabited since before written records began. Head to Llanbedr's neolithic standing stones (a few minutes' walk from site) if you want to learn more, or take the time to visit the imposing castle in Harlech (15 minutes), built in 1290 in a strategic position overlooking the Irish Sea as part of the so-called Iron Ring.
