Riverside Valley Camping

Aimé The huge selling point was the owners. The owners were so so genuine, down to earth and just lovely people. Really chatty and approachable. Nothing was too much trouble.

The fields were very large with some really lovely spots. The site did get very very busy, I think one night there was over 20 on just one of the fields, however it was big enough that everyone seemed happy enough and had more than enough space. I loved that you could pick your own pitch and it’s very flexible with what you can bring. We like to bring a gazebo and a lot of places don’t allow but here it was no problem.

Stunning area, at the edge of the peaks, lovely villages surrounding and plenty to do in the area should you wish. We stayed for 2 nights and stayed on site the entire time with no problems finding enough to do between going for a wander to see the horses/cows and for a walk to the waters edge. We also took a bit of an explore through the side of the adult field through the forest and found a lovely walkway and accidentally ended up on a private fishing lake next door which was stunning!! (This did however mean hiking through bushes/going off track so not an easy access🤣) they offer calf cuddling for £10 per person, we didn’t do it but was tempted! Really lovely unique idea.

Log burners and logs can be hired for £15 which I think is another fab option and really reasonably priced, however I’d book and pay for this via their website beforehand to reserve one, as on busy nights like when we stayed we didn’t manage to get one on the first night. Owner was fab about it and we still got some wood from them and did a fire in our BBQ instead so this wasn’t a problem for us at all.

Non aimé There was only 2 portaloos to supply both of the large fields, they became full, smelly and dirty very quickly, despite the owners trying to keep on top of them. There were large puddles on the floor, waste overspilling and people waiting around them. However can imagine this isn’t a problem usually and only an issue during busier periods, I would still say more possibly need adding for the amount of plots offered out per night.

There was a drinking water tap which was fab, however I would say is it is at the entrance of the first field, so it’s quite a walk if you stay in the back field, so bring large bottles/water buckets to fill so that this isn’t an issue.

Lastly the rubbish, there was only two small black bins next to the portaloos which got absolutely stacked with rubbish. It was completely overflowing and surrounded with rubbish. It was mentioned that on the website it states for campers to take all rubbish away with them, I booked via Pitch Up and cannot see anything that states that? So maybe others wasn’t aware of that rule either, that been said there was chairs and all sorts getting left which I find totally unfair on the owners, so definitely don’t think the amount of rubbish was the owners fault and was more so campers being disrespectful.

Aimé Really lovely site with a relaxing atmosphere. Owners of this site are really friendly and inviting, they came by a few times to check everything was okay, nothing was too much trouble for them. Really liked seeing the horses and cows in the field next to us. Plenty of room around our pitch.

Aimé Very spacious and you can choose your own pitch. Friendly owners. Fairly level site. Nice and quiet at night, you can hear the nearby dual carriageway but it’s not noisy.

Non aimé There were 2 portaloos which wasn’t really enough for the number of people so the got quite disgusting quickly despite the fact that they clearly were being maintained. Take your own loo roll as they weren’t well stocked. Hand sanitizer was provided. Would be fine if you have your own facilities.

Aimé We live 10 minutes drive away, and wanted to getaway with our daughter, grandkids, friends and 2 dogs last miinute without going on a long drive,

Riverside Valley was perfect, lots of space, pretty views, horses in the field, Six adults, three children, (5,4 & 3) two dogs two tents, peaceful, beautiful and we all had such a great time.

Thank you Alistair, Kate and family for being such great hosts and giving us all a happy memory.

Aimé Couldn’t have faulted this site, we all loved our overnight stay, owners were spot on very friendly, 😊the views over the farm were beautiful where we was pitched the horses and cows came really close, the kids had a chance to stroke them, beautiful friendly animals, the site was nice and peaceful, even with kids around. Loved loved our stay there will be booking again thank you so much Katie and allistar. Your site is 10/10 xx

Aimé We have just stayed here for the weekend with our two young boys. We have had a lovely weekend. The campsite is so peaceful and there is a lot of space, the kids enjoyed playing on the large field and making new friend's. The owners are so friendly and inviting. We paid for the calf feeding and my youngest son loved it, it was such a lovely experience for him, my eldest son wasn’t so keen but instead the farmer asked if he wanted to sit in the digger and have a go at moving it, he was in his element and enjoyed it so much.
The owner comes round often and has a chat with everyone to make sure everyone is ok and shares where the best places to go are. He also brings log burners and fire wood round to hire.
We can not wait to come back again.

Aimé We booked very last minute as 1 seasoned camper and 1 novice with a young child and dog in tow.
We selected a spot in the bottom field although a spot next to the horse paddock is on our horizon for our next booking! There was so much space and the setting is lovely surrounded by trees with a stream in 1 corner so incredibly peaceful.
The field was clean and directions were good - sat nav takes you right there. There was a phone number which we used for the wood/coal/firelighters and the lady and her daughter came round in a small tractor around 6:30pm. They stopped by every tent and chatted and presumably provided any fire materials needed. She even let my tractor obsessed son sit on their tractor!
There were porta loos which were clean and smell-free with hand wash etc.
the location is great for anyone wanting to do Barlow walks etc or just for a quiet day or 2 away. Looking forward to our next booking. Thankyou! 🏕️

Aimé Plenty of space. And by the next day we had the field to ourselves. Great location. Certainly off grid apart from a couple of loos.
Guests included woodpeckers, buzzards, kestrels and the kingfisher.
Hosts were friendly and very helpful.
Keep up the excellent work.

Non aimé Nothing with regards to the place itself, but disliked the total disrespect from other campers for basically fly tipping in the hosts field. Why would you leave chairs, rubbish bags, mattresses and tents behind for them to clear up? Gives those that show respect a bad name. Take your rubbish home with you.!

Aimé We had a lovely stay at Riverside Valley Camping in the ‘Secluded’ Glamping Bell tent. The location was perfect, looking out onto a small flowing river, which our boys loved exploring. The owners were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble and the location is perfect for exploring. Would highly recommend.

Non aimé Would be great to have the opportunity to have a shower or somewhere to wash up.
