What customers say
This peaceful, roomy farm site gets top marks for its friendly owners and lovely stream-side, woodland setting. Guests loved the ample space, direct water access, and forest trails. Interacting with farm animals was a hit, as were the fire pits, wood, and port-a-potties. It's a charming, basic spot for a relaxing, well-kept stay. A few suggested more port-a-potties for bigger fields.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite (family)
Liked Really lovely site with a relaxing atmosphere. Owners of this site are really friendly and inviting, they came by a few times to check everything was okay, nothing was too much trouble for them. Really liked seeing the horses and cows in the field next to us. Plenty of room around our pitch.

Good site for a short stopover or if you have your own facilities.
Primitive grass travel trailer campsite (family)
Liked Very spacious and you can choose your own pitch. Friendly owners. Fairly level site. Nice and quiet at night, you can hear the nearby dual carriageway but it’s not noisy.
Disliked There were 2 portaloos which wasn’t really enough for the number of people so the got quite disgusting quickly despite the fact that they clearly were being maintained. Take your own loo roll as they weren’t well stocked. Hand sanitizer was provided. Would be fine if you have your own facilities.

We have just stayed here for…
Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite (family)
Liked We have just stayed here for the weekend with our two young boys. We have had a lovely weekend. The campsite is so peaceful and there is a lot of space, the kids enjoyed playing on the large field and making new friend's. The owners are so friendly and inviting. We paid for the calf feeding and my youngest son loved it, it was such a lovely experience for him, my eldest son wasn’t so keen but instead the farmer asked if he wanted to sit in the digger and have a go at moving it, he was in his element and enjoyed it so much.
The owner comes round often and has a chat with everyone to make sure everyone is ok and shares where the best places to go are. He also brings log burners and fire wood round to hire.
We can not wait to come back again.
Lovely peaceful site.
Friendly owners.

Absolute bargain for a fantastic space with the most lovely hosts ever
Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite (family)
Liked We booked very last minute as 1 seasoned camper and 1 novice with a young child and dog in tow.
We selected a spot in the bottom field although a spot next to the horse paddock is on our horizon for our next booking! There was so much space and the setting is lovely surrounded by trees with a stream in 1 corner so incredibly peaceful.
The field was clean and directions were good - sat nav takes you right there. There was a phone number which we used for the wood/coal/firelighters and the lady and her daughter came round in a small tractor around 6:30pm. They stopped by every tent and chatted and presumably provided any fire materials needed. She even let my tractor obsessed son sit on their tractor!
There were porta loos which were clean and smell-free with hand wash etc.
the location is great for anyone wanting to do Barlow walks etc or just for a quiet day or 2 away. Looking forward to our next booking. Thankyou! 🏕️

Wild camping at its best
Primitive grass travel trailer campsite (family)
Liked Plenty of space. And by the next day we had the field to ourselves. Great location. Certainly off grid apart from a couple of loos.
Guests included woodpeckers, buzzards, kestrels and the kingfisher.
Hosts were friendly and very helpful.
Keep up the excellent work.
Disliked Nothing with regards to the place itself, but disliked the total disrespect from other campers for basically fly tipping in the hosts field. Why would you leave chairs, rubbish bags, mattresses and tents behind for them to clear up? Gives those that show respect a bad name. Take your rubbish home with you.!
Recommend to friends Visit again
From the manager: Brian thank you for your lovely review! It was so lovely to meet you both! We agree with th fly tipping it has been horrendous and something we need to think about how we can address it when we reopen next year! Look forward to seeing you again soon. Katie and Alistair x
We had a lovely stay at…
Bell tent (riverside, secluded)
Liked We had a lovely stay at Riverside Valley Camping in the ‘Secluded’ Glamping Bell tent. The location was perfect, looking out onto a small flowing river, which our boys loved exploring. The owners were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble and the location is perfect for exploring. Would highly recommend.
Disliked Would be great to have the opportunity to have a shower or somewhere to wash up.

From the manager: Thanks for your review Cathy. There were showers available, I’m sorry if I didn’t make this clear when I came down to see you. I hope you will choose to stay with us again! Katie and Alistair X
Perfect
Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite (family)
Liked I booked a pitch on the family campsite for myself, my two 6 year old and our dog. It's not too far from home as neither the kids or dog had been camping before. This site is absolutely perfect. Such friendly hosts and such a beautiful location! we have all had the most fantastic 24 hours exploring the river and enjoying the great outdoors. The calf cuddling was such a worthwhile added bonus too! I have no doubt we will be back as a family but this is also a wonderful place for an adult only break away too. Amazing, thank you!

From the manager: Thank you Hannah! It was you lovely to meet you guys and look forward to seeing you again soon! Katie xx
