Ullswater Holiday Park

A aimé Loved the facilities and ease of location. The site and facilities were well looked after and there was a very helpful shop and takeaway on site which meant you didn't have to leave if you didn't want to. There was a park for children and noise was certainly gone by half 10 at night, which was great as it made for peaceful evenings.

Wifi is available, however not across full site and best strength was near the shop, but that didn't bother us. There was an under cover eating area with a microwave and plug socket for charging gadgets. They also provide freedom of where you could pitch, which was great for choice of location, but did cause issues when getting busier.

N'a pas aimé When we first arrived it was fairly quiet and plenty of space, however by weekend it got busier and tents were trying to find space and we ended up close to another guest, but no fault of the sites as there are rules about three meters, and it was the holidays, but wasn't quite the peaceful camping trip we had in mind.

A aimé Found our stay great value.

Fantastic well stocked shop, almost everything you could need. On site ice cream and coffee shop also a bonus when you want to relax on the site.

Play area was brilliant for the kids and the toilets/showers were warm and modern.

On site chippy was convenient and reasonable.

If you pitch up on the back fields there are nice mountain views. Pitching in the centre was perfect for toilet/shower and play area convenient access.

N'a pas aimé Noise and behaviour - people with open fires, playing music after dark, shouting, unsupervised teenagers just screaming in the play area uncontested after dark.

It also seemed we'd pitched on the unofficial football field the first 2 nights - I wanted to pack back up and move the tent to stop getting hit by footballs.

The rule here is no noise after 10:30 but it wasn't consistently enforced. It's not really an issue for families with older kids I guess, but my youngest is 7 and found all the screaming and noise upsetting when trying to sleep. To be clear, the noise started long before 10:30 and continued until at least 11.

It may be that the behaviour of these groups sullied an otherwise positive experience, but because it effected every night we're unlikely to recommend or stay again at this otherwise pleasant site.

It's wonderful to know that the shop, ice cream and coffee outlet, play area, modern shower and toilet facilities, and our on-site chip shop all helped make your stay enjoyable. We're sorry, however, that noise and the behaviour of some guests negatively affected your experience. We understand how frustrating and disappointing it can be when other visitors do not respect site rules, particularly when travelling with younger children. Our quiet time policy is in place to ensure everyone can enjoy a peaceful stay, and we're sorry that this was not consistently achieved during your visit.

Your comments regarding music, shouting, unsupervised behaviour in the play area, and football games near pitches have been noted and will be shared with the team. Feedback like yours is important as it helps us review how we monitor busy periods and ensure all guests can enjoy the campsite as intended.

While we're pleased that many aspects of your stay were positive, we're genuinely sorry that these issues have left you feeling unable to recommend or return to the site. We appreciate your honest feedback and hope you might consider giving us another opportunity in the future.

A aimé Plenty of essential facilities (warm showers, water taps, washing up sinks, and a little shop). Easy to drive to great hiking locations or touristy towns.

Very dog friendly, as well as the local towns.

Fish and chip shop was amazing but make sure you get in early as it is very popular!

N'a pas aimé We had a pretty noisy family in the tent next to us. Made it a bit unpleasant in the early evenings when we were trying to relax.

Only 1 small industrial waste bin that becomes full very easily.. why not have 2 bins or empty bins on a regular basis..( twice daily ) don’t wait until the bin is overflowing where you are then unable to put anything in..

Regarding the waste disposal facilities, there are actually five recycling points located across the park, alongside our general waste disposal areas. In addition, there are 24 bins plus industrial waste bins within the camping area alone, providing multiple waste disposal points for guests throughout the park.

All waste and recycling areas are checked and emptied at least once daily, and twice on Sundays. Our team also monitors bin levels throughout the day, and if bins are identified as being full, they are typically emptied within a few hours rather than being left to overflow.

While we always aim to keep waste areas clean and accessible, it's important to remember that our team has a wide range of responsibilities across the park. In addition to managing waste and recycling, they are responsible for the overall maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and upkeep of the site. Despite these demands, bin collections are regularly monitored, and additional collections are carried out whenever required.

We are also sorry to hear that noise levels affected your stay, and your feedback will be passed on to the relevant team for review.

Regarding the dog charge, we would just like to clarify that our dog fee is £2 per night, rather than £4. We aim to keep this charge as low as possible while helping to cover the additional facilities and maintenance required for pet-friendly stays.
