Me gustó Lovely, fairly small campsite tucked in the bend of the Gannon Brook. As we were in the middle of a drought and the hottest summer on record, I requested a spot by the brook in the shade of the trees, and I was directed to the perfect spot by the helpful owner. I loved the free-range chickens popping round to visit - very friendly and chatty (so make sure you've no dogs off their leads or over-enthusiastic children!). The shower/toilet block was clean and well equipped, and I really enjoyed my stay.

Me gustó Stunning views over Minehead and the Bristol Channel from the top of the hill, with some great coastal and woodland walks nearby. The town is walking distance, but be aware those views come at a price... it's quite a strenuous hike back to camp afterwards (we made use of a great local taxi firm to get back from The Old Ship Aground after a couple of ciders!). The campsite itself is well laid-out, with a nice clean shower/toilet block.

No me gustó The hills (I also liked it for the hills - the glorious views and scenery - but my thigh muscles hated it!)

Me gustó A happy return to Pentwyn Dingle - this time with my brother. Beautiful, secluded brook-side spot with clear night skies and bats flitting overhead once the birds have roosted and their chatter has died down. Only facilities are water standpipes so you need to be self-contained, but to me it's perfect... and I even managed to find the nearby long barrow this time!

Me gustó What a gorgeous, peaceful site Pentwyn Dingle is, located on the edge of the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, just a few miles west of Hay on Wye. There are no toilets or showers, so you need to be self-contained, but campfires are encouraged, and falling asleep to the sound of the babbling brook running the length of the valley site is pure bliss. Plenty of lovely walks and interesting places to explore right on the doorstep. Quite honestly, if you want a basic site in a gorgeous location, this is possibly the best campsite in the world! :)

Me gustó I've stayed at Trebyla before, and always enjoy camping here. The location is perfectly placed for exploring Boscastle, Tintagel and the wider area, and the view of the sea from the site is to die for! Fairly basic amenities, but clean, and perfect for an overnight stay.

Me gustó Loved my stay at this community campsite about a 15-minute drive to the north-west of Crediton. Although I was the only camper, I enjoyed chatting with some of the volunteers who were making apple juice from the old orchard, which is also home to the campsite. They even gave me a glass to taste - delicious! The communal firepit was a welcome addition, and there's a well-stocked wood shed nearby. The campsite also features a lovely undercover communal kitchen space with gas-burners, fridge and table, and there are fab hot showers and long-drop toilets nearby. Wonderful place!

Me gustó I had the most incredible time staying at Porlock Weir Campsite. I had originally intended to stay just a couple of nights but found so much to explore right on the doorstep, I booked another night. The owner, Matthew, is really helpful and knowledgeable about the local area, and is full of recommendations. Make sure you ask him about Ada Lovelace and the Byron associations... fascinating stuff! As a pop-up site, it's basic, but there's a long-drop toilet, drinking water tap, and recycling point... and the views from the field are to die for. When I stayed, it was the time of the Super Sturgeon Moon, and the clear sky made it perfect for stargazing. Recommended visits: The (Bottom) Ship Inn (just 5 mins' walk and great local cider); the Ashley Combe tunnels and Ada Lovelace's bath house; Sparkhayes Marsh; woodland walk to Porlock; the pretty harbour; the stranded fin whale skull and stone WWII pill box on the beach; and the fabulous crinkly tin tabernacle. Recommended.

Me gustó Nice riverside location - perfect for an evening stroll - while also only a few minutes' walk into the centre of Hereford. Really friendly team there - I was travelling alone, but made to feel very welcome, and had everything explained to me on arrival... and was also invited to use the club bar from 6pm. Toilet and shower block are part of the rowing club building and are well maintained. Great value, an enjoyable stop!

Me gustó Tucker's Grave Inn is a *brilliant* boozer! If you like real cider in traditional surroundings with friendly staff, then this is the real deal. We were able to pick our own stop - nicely tucked away when we wanted a little piece and quiet after Saturday night live music fun in the barn, but still close to amenities. The toilet and shower block is a really nicely designed affair, with veranda overlooking the site and fields beyond (cracking sunset views!). If you don't want to do your own cooking in the morning, take advantage of their huge breakfast baps... will keep you going all day. PS Try the in-house Mother Tuckers, and I guarantee you'll be going back for more. :) PPS Recommended local sites for visiting are Stoney Littleton Long Barrow (astonishing chambered tomb), and Farleigh Hungerford Castle (14th century, with sinister past... *and* it houses Britain's best collection of human-shaped lead coffins in the crypt).

No me gustó It got very busy in the toilets/showers and washing-up area in the mornings, but it was a weekend in July, so a little queueing is to be expected. Not a problem at all as we certainly weren't in a rush.

Me gustó Lovely site - well laid-out, with choice of where to pitch up, including quiet field or right next to toilet block. I had a cracking spot overlooking Oxwich Bay, with beautiful views across the sea. Toilet/shower block was well maintained, with plenty of cubicles and hot free showers. There are also plenty of drinking water taps, a laundry and hot drinks vending machine. The campsite is brilliantly placed for exploring the Gower, including Worms Head (check the tide times before trying to head out to the tip, natch 😊), Oxwich beach, Three Cliffs Bay, and Port Eynon Point. I will definitely be back!

No me gustó The paid-for on-site Wi-Fi link wasn't working and reception wasn't manned, but I was given a mobile number to call if there were any issues and the contact was very friendly, so all good!

Me gustó I had the most wonderful stay at Mary's shepherd's hut. Naomi and Mark couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful, and the facilities are top-notch. The hut is lovely, with power sockets, heater & fan (neither were needed!), and an extremely comfortable bed. There's a well-equipped separate kitchen with dining area and woodburning stove, as well as separate toilet and shower (for your use only - not shared with anyone else). I spent a lovely evening sitting reading by the firepit, getting to know farm cat Lily (quite a character!), and listening to the sounds of the countryside. Thoroughly recommended.
