You may find yourselves simply settling in to gaze out over the lake for several hours – but there’s plenty more scenery to explore, so it’s worth leaving those views behind and heading out from time to time. For walkers, the trails to Brattfallet waterfall (20 minutes’ drive) and through the woods at Vågbackens Motionsområde (25 minutes) are popular options. For other activities, take your mountain bikes to the winding trail at Skidstadion MTB (half an hour), sign up for horse riding (or even horse swimming) at Our Little Farm Horseback Riding (10 minutes) or canoe the Klarälven river from Ekshärad (five minutes). There’s also the option of taking new woolly friends for a stroll at Vallarnaalpackor (45 minutes) or walking among the Nordic natives at Värmlands Moose Park (10 minutes). Other outings nearby might take you to Torsby (half an hour) for the Kollsberg Museum and Torsby Fordonsmuseum, or to Hagfors Järnvägsmuseum (25 minutes) to see vintage trains and take a trolley ride through the woods.
