Looked? Back? Ready to book? Here be the beaucoup other places you'll want to check out on and around this lush family park. First up, it's in the lush land of the Vendée, the splendid chunk of the Pays de la Loire with 200 kilometres of Atlantic Ocean coast and heaps upon heaps of glistening sandy beach... and with marshland boat trips and the fab Puy du Fou theme park just as a brief starter.
And next? And next and next and next... Camping Les Places Dorées is in stellar Vendée setting, close to the coast at the seaside resort of Saint-Jean-de-Monts and within easy reach of other top coastal spots like Saint Gilles Croix de Vie and Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez: you could be out and about on beaches here for as long as your sandy heart could wish.
And! What a stellar amount of stuff there is to do on site too. Spend your family hours at the outdoor heated pool and paddling pool, perhaps, or zipping down the waterslides, or going undercover at the indoor pool (and for over-16s, at the sauna, hammam, whirlpools and massage jets all gratis for guests).
The site team runs a hugely varied programme of daytime and evening activities through July and August: fitness courses like aerobics, steps or muscle-training in the morning while the kids can get stuck into outdoor games, crafts, dances and songs... then in the afternoon, sports tournaments (football, tennis, pétanque, basketball and table tennis) as well as arty activities like dance are laid on for teens and adults, alongside activities for all ages like beach games, 'Olympic' competitions and treasure hunts.
By night, there's disco, karaoke, magic shows, cabarets, quizzes and live music... all at the bar-restaurant where you should have sensibly spent a couple of hours supping first.

Get on your bike: the site is next to Vendée pine forest and close to bike paths... or take your wheels to the lush islands of Noirmoutier or Yeu.
There's loads to do around here and the team recommendeds most of it: try animal parks such as La Ferme des Pommettes 10 minutes'drive away; Sealand (the Noirmoutier aquarium) within 35, and Planète Sauvage within 50. Or make for adventure parks instead, like Explora Parc (five minutes), Atlantique Toboggan (20 minutes), Youplaland (20 minutes) and Océanile (30 minutes).
Also recommended are wildlife watching around the forest, dunes and marshlands of Biotopia 10 minutes north, seeing the area's highlights in teeny style at Vendée Miniature (40 minutes), and the castle and pond at Logis de la Chabotterie, 55 minutes' drive away.
