Buddens Camping and Activity Centre

Me gustó Attractive rural setting - huge field edged by woodland and shrubbery, with some lines of small trees providing shelter on the southern side. Fairly level throughout. Other, well-separated fields may house scouts and guides so the general feel can be quite lively at times, but quiet at night. No pitch demarcation, so family groups can set up separate tents together and there's plenty of space for extra cars and children's play. Acres of space with jungly secret spaces for children to explore. Nature all around and blackberries galore! Reasonably priced onsite activities such as climbing, archery, SUP, canoeing and more. Very friendly and helpful staff, always smiling. Power banks and phones can be recharged in the reception: do check closing times as these vary. Tuck shop in reception. Sanitary block has individual cubicles each containing a toilet, handbasin with hot water, hot air hand dryer and shower, plus washing up areas. There is one adapted for disabled use.

No me gustó Access tracks pretty uneven - need to drive very carefully. No EHUs. No washing machines or dryers at the family sanitary block (don't know if there are any in the scouts camping areas). Poor to no mobile signal. The pre-erected tent area is closest to the toilet block so that can be a long walk for other campers, the last part through a wooded area with huge banks of shrubs, which a couple of our group found quite intimidating as daylight went. No lighting in the family area apart from the sanitary block itself, which has sensors and only lights up when you are very close. Sanitary cubicles can be very muddy if the previous shower user has not used a squeegee tool. No seat/lid on toilet, no other seat, and no shelves, so keeping your stuff safe, clean and dry can be tricky. Luxurious compared to many scout camps, in my experience, but may not suit everyone.

No me gustó Needs signage to be improved. And just smoothen the road a little, our car took quite the bashing driving down.

Me gustó Fun activities for the kids, large open field / pitch for them to play in in-between activities.

No me gustó Lots of ants but that’s not their fault! Wouldn’t put me off going again! It is the countryside after all!

Me gustó Friendly staff, choose your own pitch, loads of space, really peaceful, ablutions super clean and modern. Lovely grounds to walk around. Activities easy to book.

No me gustó ANTS!! unfortunately the ants in the field we chose were, at times, unbearable… to the point of storing all food and drinks in cars at all times! Had to throw away so much food due to ants in everything. We understand when camping that you essentially sign up for nature and everything that comes with that but this stay will be remembered, by all, as the ‘ANTS’ camping trip

Me gustó Very nice place. Good field for for tents, had a barrel bbq so if you don't have one you can use theres for free (just grab your squirs) , also they sell wood. Clean wc and very good shower pressure. A lot of activities for kids.

Me gustó Showers and toilets were lovely, free fire pits, you are left alone and not watched over, and wifi was hit and miss good for children

No me gustó We were plagued with ants, but not the end of the world, and it is grass, and a long walk to the loos
