Other perks of staying in an old pub include plenty of classic games like darts and pool. Any energetic dogs you've brought have several run-around spots within a three-mile radius, including Dimmingsdale Valley where they can snuffle through forest terrain and the Churnet Valley Cycleway, an accessible route that runs along an old railway line (you might want to keep them on a lead at this latter spot). Me gustó Nice staff good location and easy to find

No me gustó Facilities slightly run down, other guests didnt use sanitary bins provided which meant I had to dispose of them before my child used the bath room.
Other guests arrived at 3-4 am and erected their tent next to ours very noisily meaning we were awake fully from 3am not ideal when a busy day at Alton towers was planned after.
This isn’t the campsites fault yet the other campers made no apology at all for the loud noise of using car engine to inflate mattresses etc at 4.30am

Me gustó Welcoming site, the landlady was very accommodating and helpful. Great food at the pub. Lovely typical countryside pub.

No me gustó Unfortunately the grass area that was usually open for camping wasn't prepared so we were offered to pitch up on play area at the back of the pub. However there unfortunately was some dog mess that we didn't see when we pitched meaning we had the task of cleaning it off our tent when we got home.

Me gustó So convenient for Alton Towers. Food was incredible. Honestly was a bit skeptical at first but we absolutely loved it and am making this our destination every time we do Alton Towers. Saw “homemade” on the menu and honestly thought it was going to be just generic food. Omg it was truly amazing homemade food! My husband had the homemade steak and ale pie and he said it was the best pie he’s ever had. I can’t explain how good the food was but so reasonable. For 3 of us to have a main plus a side of fries plus drinks was £48! My 9 year old loves the darts and pool table. Can’t wait to stay in the winter as they have open fires.

No me gustó No showers but we knew that and the bathrooms are good. There wasn’t much traffic but the cars that went by you could really hear.

As nearby attractions go, it doesn't get much more local than Alton Towers (five minutes' drive) – in fact, it's said that the Peakstones Inn was once the gatekeeper's lodge of Alton Towers back in the days when the 910-acre park was owned by the Earl of Shrewsbury. Nowadays, as well as the coasters and other headline rides, there's a spa, water park and miniature golf course that cater to those looking for chilled-out times alongside big adrenaline hits. This well-located site is also a mere 15-minute drive from the edge of the Peak District National Park, a hub for epic hill hikes, laidback leg-stretching and everything in between. Drive to Dovedale car park (30 minutes) if you fancy mostly flat walks along country lanes and riverside paths, or take on mighty Mam Tor (an hour) if you're up for a challenge. And don't neglect the fab family-friendly ents on offer in Stoke on Trent (30 minutes) – the city is home (to name but a few) to Trentham Monkey Forest, a wildlife park where apes roam free, Waterworld Tropical Aqua Park and the spectacular Trentham Estate.
