High Ashes Haven

Me gustó Phil was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and couldn't have done more to make us feel at home. The facilities are clean, accessible, and we had plenty of home comforts that made our stay cosy. The area itself is outstandingly beautiful, and our shepherd's hut had a kettle, lovely mugs and cups, a heater, a fan, plenty of blankets, towels, and even a little radio that made it feel like home away from home. What a wonderful time we had! Thank you Phil!

Me gustó Had an absolutely lovely weekend in the Serenity tents with my 4 adults daughters. The site is unpretentious but extremely well equipped. The tents are bright and cozy and the real beds a lovely luxury. The outdoor kitchen is amazing with everything you could need, including jars of herbs and semolina for the outdoor pizza oven!. Pizza oven was fabulous and great fun. We had our own bathroom which was very clean and beautifully appointed. Perhaps best of all was the beautiful peaceful setting. Lots of options for walks straight from the site, or places to just sit and be peaceful and watch the wildlife (I especially enjoyed watching the swallows and the little stoat that popped out to say hi!) Absolutely loved the patches of wildflowers around our tents.
Nice walk to local farm shop with cafe and an easy drive into Matlock for a wander around and a bite to eat.
Phil, the host, was extremely helpful, with regular texts to keep us informed about checking in and brought us an additional heater when we asked about it for the second night(we seem to have managed to miss the endless hot summer and managed to book right when the nights are getting cold!) Phil was also a genuinely nice chap, and we loved hearing about his work with the rural project, and he even gave us some wildflower seeds to take home . Found our new favourite camping spot, will be back next year .

No me gustó It wasn't clear from the booking Serenity was actually 2 tents. However, Phil did clarify the sleeping arrangements very clearly when I emailed to ask.Whilst the main tent was wonderful, the second smaller tent was not quite the same standard. The main issue was that initially only one tent had a heater, and given that it dropped to 7/8 degrees at night this was an issue. Phil did very kindly provide us with a second heater for our second night when we asked. Unfortunately though it seemed to be not possible to run both heaters at once (even on low) without tripping the electrics, so we ended up moving one of the fold out beds from the small tent into the bigger tent so we could all sleep together in a warm tent. If the second tent had been as lovely and comfortable as the main tent this would have been a completely perfect stay . Having said that, this was the only minor thing that was an issue.

Me gustó We enjoyed the whole experience, camping in comfort! We were greeted to the site by the friendly owner and shown to our bell tent, the facilities were great, with our own sheltered kitchen area, everything we needed to cook our meals (gas barbecue and hob and microwave with a fridge to keep everything fresh and our beers cold. Even a space to sit and eat undercover if needed. The bell tent had everything we needed, 2 really comfortable beds and electric for charging etc. The shower/bathroom was clean and nicely decorated. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and will visit again soon.

Me gustó Perfect little hut with comfortable bed, lovely decor and little touches. The hut has its own separate bathroom unit which is a few steps to get to with a nice hot shower, toilet and sink. Everything provided like soap and shower gels and also cleaning products. Outdoor kitchen is opposite the hut which is great.. pots and pans, plates and cutlery all provided as well as a BBQ and pizza oven. There is a cute little outdoor lounge aswell! Fire pit and outdoor seats are also provided which are gorgeous when the weather is warm!!! Fairy lights add a whimsical feel. The area is lovely and quiet.. there is a small pond with a little family of ducks which are quite entertaining to watch just outside the hut. Within around 40 minutes walk is the village of ashover.. with three pubs… we especially liked the old poets corner. The host was very friendly and helped us with all queries.

Me gustó The Shepard's hut was lovely and well equipped with amenities. Really clean kitchen area and shower/toilet cubicle. Very friendly hosts, helping with the local area. Thoroughly enjoyed our quiet and peaceful stay.

Me gustó Had a wonderful glamping break here with my family. Excellent outdoor kitchen. Very relaxed and laidback feel. Owners were very responsive. Would love to visit gain.

Me gustó The site is absolutely idyllic. I stayed in the shepherd’s hut with my six year old daughter. We felt very safe and relaxed. My daughter absolutely loved the tree swings, the animals and the hut; she was so carefree for our entire stay. The hut was cosy with multiple outdoor seating areas overlooking the pond (including mother duck and her chicks!)
The accommodation is well-equipped but unpretentious. The toilets are very well-kept and pleasantly decorated, and the camper’s kitchen was a surprise bonus - under-cover, sink, fridge, freezer, storage, all crockery and cutlery, gas BBQ and pizza oven! Tea, coffee, a kettle and heater in the hut were a nice touch, too.
We had the whole site to ourselves for the first night and it felt like a real treat.
The owner is lovely and very friendly to talk to.
A perfect stay - I couldn’t fault it.

Me gustó Perfect peaceful spot. Loads of space, nature and privacy. lovely place to escape to recharge your batteries and reconnect. Host is friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Bathroom and shower is top notch , very well equipped kitchen, comfy beds. Easily accessible by public transport. Lots of fun little bits for the kids to explore and discover, such as swings, swing ball, dart board. We didn't want to leave.

Me gustó Amazing place, can’t fault it. Phil and Ness have thought of everything and are so friendly and accommodating. Tent was beautiful and cosy in the wet weather, outdoors chilling areas were gorgeous in the sun. Kitchen fully equipped and with bbq and pizza oven! We loved the ducks and the views the most. Will be back as soon as possible!
