Lovely terraced site with pitches separated by laurel bushes. Has a new toilet/shower block being installed, but was still operational. Gordon, the site manager, was extremely welcoming and helpful at all times and was a lovely jolly person.

Some guests staying on the first night of the school holidays were very noisy until after the quiet time, but Gordon did advise them twice to quieten down as others were sleeping.

Clean and spacious campsite in a lovely peaceful location. Gordon the warden did a fantastic job at making everyone feel welcome and was there to help with anything you needed. The new toilet block is a great addition to the site. Will definitely be back.

Such a lovely wee campsite. As soon as we arrived Gordon met us to welcome us, had a lovely chat too to get to know us. My boys loved meeting Gordon around the site to talk about football, what an asset Gordon is to High Hermitage! The site is nice and peaceful, even when it started to get busier near the end of our stay, we still felt like we had lots of privacy. The new toilet and shower blocks are a great addition. A great location for exploring Newcastle and the surrounding areas.

Can’t access river, but that’s the water boards fault.

Had great time site is very peaceful and staff couldn't be more helpful, new toilets and showers are lovely and clean and modern will definitely recommend
