The total serenity of this park made it so that we didn't want to leave. It was quiet, and sheltered from the northerly winds. The pitches are huge and offer EHU, water and grey waste facilities, and they even have a picnic table next to them for when you might want to enjoy an al-fresco meal next to your pitch.
We had a great welcome from their very friendly warden (Gordon) and he took us to our pitch, and made sure we were settled in, and knew where everything was.
There is a large area dedicated to static (or more permanent) homes and this was set back from the touring element of the park, and there were some beautiful homes there and in a perfect sun spot too.
The touring area of the park is undergoing some changes, and whilst there are only about 7 hardstanding pitches, there is room for loads on the grassed area, some have EHU too. There is an old area for washing pots and again this is due to be rebuilt in the next year or so. We had the chance to speak to the park owner who confirmed the changes that are happening.
The location is right in the River Tyne valley, and you can walk (about 3/4 mile) to the next village (Ovingham) and there is a wonderful pub called The White Swan where the food is wonderful! This is also a lovely dog walk too. There are no specific dog facilities at High Hermitage Holiday Park, but with the walks nearby, it isn't a big need.
Night times are quiet and peaceful. As it is set back from the road, there is little to no road-noise - the only sounds we heard was the wind blowing through the trees that were sheltering us, and the birds.
