Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Lovely welcome, great views, fantastic spotless bathrooms, fab place for walking. All round a great campsite with wonderful cafe and shop onsite.

Disliked There's nothing to dislike at this site it's really lovely. The only reason we didn't give it a ten is the price which is way too high. We visit the Island regularly and really wanted to try this site as it's a great location so took the price on the nose but it does mean we wouldn't go back there. I think they're losing business too as other local sites were much busier in August.

Disliked Le prix j'ai payé 60 livres pour des tentes de trainings qui passées largement sur un seul emplacement c'est bien trop cher.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked The location was fabulous with lovely walks straight from the campsite and spectacular views. The facilities were excellent, probably the best we've used at any campsite. Lovely hot showers that allowed enough time to wash your hair!! Very clean and spacious areas with a no outdoor shoes policy which kept it very clean even on rainy days. The cafe was fabulous as was the shop and there's an excellent pub right on the doorstep. We loved this campsite!

Disliked Stated a shared freezer for ice blocks which was provided but it was very small and just couldn't cope with demand, so our blocks often weren't frozen, even when left overnight. This was problematic for a longer stay so a bigger freezer would be very beneficial. Pitches were a little close for comfort and we could clearly hear our neighbours. The pitch wasn't very flat either although we suspect that was due to the extremely dry weather affecting the ground.

Liked The site is very quiet and well spaced out. The pitch was large and great for the campervan. The facilities block is new and very clean. There’s a cafe on site that is exceptional and a pub across the road. A lovely site overall and a dog park too!

Local attractions

Stoats Farm is starting point for scenic strolls along the Isle of Wight’s coastal paths, or you can follow the Tennyson Trail, a 15-mile walk from Carisbrooke Castle (25 minutes’ drive) to The Needles chalk stacks. If the kids have behaved, treat them to the stomach-churning chairlift ride over the sea at The Needles Landmark Attraction (five minutes). When they’ve still got energy to spare, let them run riot on the beach at Freshwater Bay (five minutes), and if that doesn’t do the trick, wear them out on the rides and go-karts at Tapnell Farm Park (10 minutes). Change the pace with a tour of handsome Osborne (40 minutes), the mansion built for Queen Victoria in 1845, or learn about Alfred, Lord Tennyson at Farringford Historic House and Gardens (10 minutes). And don’t forget the Isle of Wight is small: you can rummage around indie boutiques in Yarmouth (15 minutes) or Ryde (40 minutes) and still have oodles of time to pop into the arcades on Shanklin Beach’s prom (also 40 minutes).
