We enjoyed our stay and going back to proper basics for the night
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Pitches were well spaced out, everything was basic but was there. And we really enjoyed going back to basics for a change! We particularly liked showering under the willow tree, was a fun way to shower. The compost toilet was new to us. But was actually quite pleasant, dare I say, nicer than other ‘normal’ toilets than we have used in the past.
I met the host on arrival and she explained where to find water and told us about the site.
Disliked The shower and the washing up facilities were quite a walk away, I would have personally chose a pitch nearer the facilities, however I feel a lot of thought went into our assigned pitches, meaning we spaced out. We just drove to the shower as I didn’t want the children walking back to the tent cold, as the shower is cold.

From the manager: Thank you for your comments. Other people have also said that they were surprised how pleasant the compost loos actually are.
I agree with where I put you on the campsite was at one end of it so about 75 metres to the compost loo and 130 metres to the shower and sink. Love your ingenuity or driving to it to keep warm. Also my fault a bit as usually put people with young children in the middle of the field so they are close to the compost loo and play area and not so far to the shower. I was trying to space campers out a bit as not a full campsite. Will try to ensure that children regardless of age are nearer the centre of the field.

Liked Relatively peaceful.
Disliked Facilities lacking. Campsite is overlooked by people's back gardens. Rotting ford transits in the field. Having to open multiple gates to get in. Owners asking when I was going to leave before I even arrived. Very expensive for what it is.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, and we're glad you found the site peaceful.
A few points we'd like to clarify: the campsite is a working stables, so the double gates are there to keep horses safely contained if they escape the field or yard — an important safety measure, though we appreciate it's an extra step, especially for solo campers. The vehicles in the field are part of our working farm equipment rather than site facilities.
Regarding checkout — we were actually hoping to offer a later checkout if you needed one, as we try not to rush guests out at 10am when possible. We were out when you arrived and wanted to check in ahead of time in case that affected your plans; we're sorry if that came across differently than intended.
Our site is intentionally simple — cold water shower and compost loos, as described in our listing — though we do provide eco-friendly toiletries throughout. We're sorry this didn't feel like good value for you..

Quiet, clean, very eco-friendly, and the shower under the weeping willow was magical. Unbeatable on Hayling Island...
I loved your daughter’s description of it being either the fairy shower or Titanias’s shower.

Liked We were extremely happy with our stay! The owners are absolutely lovely and super welcoming. There is plenty of space for everyone—they don't try to cram in as many people as possible, but genuinely care about guests' comfort. Right next to the campsite, there are horses you can watch, which is just wonderful! We will definitely be back!
