From the manager: Thanks Pete - very pleased you enjoyed your visit.
The site is ok , nothing around the area and nothing for kids to do.
Electric optional grass pitch (large)
Liked The area was quiet and remote not a lot to do. The site is ideal for an overnight stop if travelling some distance and if you like a short stay with nothing around.
The camp site did sell eggs, ice cream and local meats but thought they were pricey but a good idea for if you needed some food items.
I personally wouldn’t stay there again as there are friendlier sites around and closer to other amenities.
I have more dislikes than likes for this site.
Disliked 1. The pitch was on a slope so made cooking difficult as I had to wedge something under the burner.
2. The local pub was a mile walk but is closed on Monday and Tuesdays and the rest of the week doesn’t open until 5pm. 3. No shops nearby or bus route.
4. To the nearest pubs, coffee shops and supermarkets was 14 miles walk round trip. (10 min drive if you want to drive)
5. Toilets and shower could have been cleaner.
6. Not that dog friendly as we had to keep keep the dog within our pitch even though he was on a long lead and wanting to play with his ball, the children on site could play wherever they wanted with their ball.
7. Some children were running around and winding the dog up and not keeping to their pitch as per the rules.
8. We had family visit us for a few hours, and the owner who I thought was rude pointing at their car to say who’s car is this if you have guests there is a charge, I asked what that charge was it was £3. Our family thought she was rude and they were taken back by what she said. No idea why she had to charge anything as they were in our tent having a cup of tea. They could have even parked on the road and not on our pitch.
9. The site is just a farm house field with cut grass, very basic.

From the manager: I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay; I note that you stayed for the full 3 nights that were booked.
In response to your comments:
1. We were not busy during your visit - I offered you the choice of pitches - around 15 were available - you chose your spot - pitch 4, the largest on the campsite with a slight slope. You could have chosen a flatter one.
2. 3, 4. I am not responsible of your choice of campsite and the local amenities.
5. Your comment does not correspond with the majority of all other reviews.
6. You ignored campsite rules with respect to pets. You allowed your large dog (a Victorian Bulldog I believe) to wander around freely. When I asked to put the dog on a lead, in accordance with campsite rules, the lead was around 30 ft long and your dog could wander across the access track and on to other pitches. It is not acceptable that any dog can wander about off pitch. Other campers complained about your pet as their children were intimidated by it.
7. There is no rule that stops children playing off their pitch.
8. My campsite rules on Pitch Up state: 'Visitors must register at reception and pay their fee' - you did neither. Numbers of people on site are controlled for security and to maintain peace and quiet.
9. The campsite is as advertised.
Really nice base for exploring the coastal resorts.
