What customers say

Fantastic spot with beach access through woodland. Staff are chuffed, facilities are neat (some a bit old), shop/bar/eatery are handy. Mostly lekker and quiet with loads of space, but playground can be a bit rowdy, and shower timers, Wi-Fi, and pitches can be iffy. Loads of natural beauty and near cool spots.

Electric grass and gravel pitch

Liked Perfect, shower clean and loos fine. Shop very nice and friendly. Staff very helpful.

Disliked A second peak morning loo clean is required at 8-30 to 9-00 am due to heavy usage. This is intended as constructive and not a criticism.

Electric grass and gravel pitch

Liked Lovely site, great reception and bar staff.
We were on Pitch 210 under tge trees with the beach behind us. The only negative about the pitches is that these ones were a little too close to each other and if it had been cold, it being so shady it was would have been really chilly sitting outside.
The centre green had tents on and was open and sunny, it would have been nice to have a pitch like that. But all in all it was lovely

Disliked Cramped and shady

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Could be a good site

Disliked The constant smell of sewage and every morning waking up to a tractor with a Bowser full of sewage being emptied into a drain right in front of my caravan and filling my caravan with the very strong smell of raw sewage, not very pleasant and the whole idea of the trip was to walk my dogs on the beach morning and evening but to find out when I arrived the steps was closed why not tell before i arrived on site

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Site set in a very beautiful area! Easy to book, staff friendly and helpful, toilet facilities clean and great little shop and bar right on site. Stunning walk through the forest to Dunwich and the beach. For those preferring to drive, large free car park and a lovely beachside cafe with outside seating, totally unspoilt, beach so lovely!

Disliked Many pitches rather shaded due to so many big mature trees. We were kindly given a less shaded pitch per request, but sadly this was close to the play area, so a little noisy as during the school holidays. Sadly steps to beach from site closed following the recent heath fires, but acknowledge this was temporary and for our own safety.

Local attractions

Cute-as-a-picture seaside towns include Southwold (20 minutes’ drive), where you can tour Adnams Brewery and the lighthouse, browse smart shops and eat fish and chips on the pier; Aldeburgh (25 minutes) is well-known for tours of the arts and crafts Red House, former home of composer Benjamin Britten, and Suffolk-born Maggi Hambling’s vast ‘Scallop’ sculpture on the beach. Still on the coast, Thorpeness (25 minutes) is set around the Meare boating lake; it is also gateway to the Suffolk & Essex Coast & Heaths National Landscape, criss-crossed with wildlife walks and cycle rides. If you’d rather not stray so far from base camp, RSPB Minsmere (10 minutes) is another great day out for wildlife lovers, with family-friendly opportunities to take part in pond dipping and den building. There are also family-centric activities like felting and archaeology talks at Dunwich Museum (five minutes), where you can learn about the ‘Lost City’ – Dunwich was once a thriving medieval port that slowly slipped into the sea due to erosion and storm surges.
