Liked Everything! Quite easily the best place we have stayed at. Bathroom/showers are really nicely built and very clean. Owner was lovely and friendly. Outside bar and TV area, play area for the kids, wifi, and a lovely little small pub with live music.

Liked Excellent location, very friendly personal, wonderful setting, food, drinks and service in the pub

Disliked Number of toilets and showers may be a bit tight, when camping is fully booked, we had no problem, as of season

Liked Spacious, son loved the play area, pet welcoming, food was delicious and amazing prices, would need to book before hand tho as only small but lovely place, very homely vibes too.
Toilets on site were spotless 24/7
We spoke to a few locals who were genuine and kind towards us, no barking dogs all night either. Would 100% be coming back soon even if it’s just for a drive for some food.

Liked First time ever going out in our caravan. The main guy at reception was very welcoming and helpful. He let me have a choice of multiple pitches and advised which would be an easy one to reverse onto.
Very clean place. Everything we needed was visible, clean and on-site.

Local attractions

This is an ace base for trips to Alton Towers (20 minutes’ drive) for folk who fancy riding rollercoasters like the Nemesis and Oblivion. Spend one day scampering among the top-class attractions here, then slow things down the next with countryside explores. The Peak District National Park (around 25 minutes) is full of walking paths, while other spots like Trentham Gardens (20 minutes) are top for traipsing round too. If checking out cheeky creatures is more your bag, head to Trentham Monkey Forest (20 minutes) and wander among the free-roaming animals. Around 140 Barbary macaques live in the woodlands and meadows here – make sure to look up and spot them swinging through the trees. Once you’ve snapped pics of the primates, set your sights on some of the market towns scattered around the area. Stone, a settlement on the Trent and Mersey Canal (15 minutes), is well-regarded for its food and drink options, while Cheadle (55 minutes), just outside the wood-covered Churnet Valley and the scenic Staffordshire Moorlands, is worth stopping in too.
