Local attractions

If you’ve brought fishing kit along, there are plenty of places to try it out around here: the nearby White River is well known for its trout fishing, while Beaver Lake (10 minutes’ drive) is the place for big striped bass and largemouthed bass. Those who’d rather get out on the water can also head to the White river for canoeing or kayaking days, or set off to the Kings River, half an hour away. And of course those watery surroundings make for some scenic days out too – Table Rock State Park (an hour’s drive) is a good place to get out for a hike past streams and waterfalls, as is the Roaring River State Park (half an hour). Underground has some pretty spectacular offerings too: Onyx Cave (35 minutes) and Cosmic Cavern (45 minutes) are both good locations for tours of living caves and activities like gemstone panning. Back up on the surface, gaze up at the awe-inspiring 67-foot Christ of the Ozarks (half an hour) or treat yourself to a tasting session at Keels Creek Winery (25 minutes).
