If you’re making your way around Murcia in a motorhome, stop over for a couple of days (minimum) at Los Olivos Camper Park, in a peaceful position surrounded by olive trees in the Costa Cálida, an area that gets a whopping 300 or so days of sunshine a year. With such an elevated chance of cloudless skies, it's certainly worth setting up your camping chair on a spacious pitch at this park within Cartagena’s Los Puertos de Santa Bárbara district, surrounded by the peace and quiet of a wild forest. And it's not just serene but also very secure, with a gate that locks automatically and a CCTV system. If you feel like getting out and about, start by wandering out into the woods or chatting to staff about the top hiking trails nearby. As the park's in a rural setting and just a 20-minute drive from the coast there are plenty of outdoorsy things to get stuck into nearby: how about biking, diving, watersports, fishing, whale-watching? The park’s also 20 minutes away from the city of Cartagena, and 25 minutes from the town of Mazarrón, where trying traditional Murcian meals like pastel de carne (meat pie) in the restaurants comes highly recommended. Petrol stations, pharmacies, supermarkets and banks are all a short drive away too and a small shop is on site. A toilet block, showers, laundry area, washing-up facilities and free wifi are also on site, along with amenities accessible for people with disabilities. Pets are allowed on the grounds – good news if you’re taking a trip with any four-legged friends.

Liked Sehr freundliches Personal an der Rezeption. Jeden Morgen kam ein Bäcker Auto ca 9.30.

Disliked Die Zufahrt müsste man reparieren da es sehr viele Schlaglöcher gibt .Ein Container mit einer Damen Toilette und Dusche sowie auch für die Herren war auf. Als dann mehrere Gäste kamen war es mit langen Wartezeiten verbunden und es wurde auch nur einmal früh von einer Putzfirma gereinigt und leider nicht jeden Tag. Es gab einen zweiten Container der aber noch abgeschlossen war. Auf dem Hunde Platz gab es keine Möglichkeit die Hinterlassenschaften zu entsorgen da kein Abfalleimer vorhanden ist.

Liked Toller Stellplatz mit kleinem Kiesel belegt. Es gibt verschieden große Stellplätze.
Sehr nettes und hilfreiches Personal.
Saubere Sanitäranlagen, Toiletten, Duschen.
Strom am Stellplatz. Es gibt einen V/E Platz und einen Eingezäunten Hundeplatz. Viel Auslauf für Hunde vor dem Platz.
Der nächste Supermarkt (Sparmarkt) in ca 7Km Entfernung. Eine Tappas Bar in ca 1,3km.

Liked The campsite was a lovely, tranquil environment with great views of the surrounding countryside. The amenities were excellent. Each pitch was a generous size. There was a dog exercising space, and pretty orchards nearby to explore. The woman who ran the site, was very helpful and pleasant. A great spot.

Liked Really friendly site with good size pitches. The site is a bit remote so good for walking but would need transport if wanting to visit further afield. I would definitely recommend and stay again.

Liked Bread man everyday, fruit and veg man twice a week and meat man twice a week.

Disliked The pitch we had. We were next to a toilet block and where you washed your dishes was basically on our pitch. People started washing dishes around 7.30 up to 9.00 at night. We like a lie in while on holiday but no chance.

Local attractions

Head over to Cartagena, Mazarrón and La Azohía (all under 30 minutes' drive) for plenty of beaches, with some of the best being in the protected marine reserve of Cabo Tiñoso. Also try Playa La Cortina for a compact cove, or settle on the sand in front of the rocky crags at Playa de la Cola del Caballo. Mosey east for a change of scenery at the Mar Menor, a coastal saltwater lagoon, heading past its furthest reaches for the cute village of Cabo de Palos and its marina and fish restaurants (35 minutes). Walk along the rocky coastline to the lighthouse for sweeping views over the water, and if you’re here on a Sunday morning, browse the 100 stalls at the market for everything from vegetables to bags. More shopping’s to be had in the port city of Cartagena (20 minutes), which also has a first-century BC theatre and Roman-era murals and mosaics at the Casa de la Fortuna to check out. For history that’s a touch more modern, the Naval Museum is well worth a look.
