Local attractions
If you're not doing the riverside pedal to the province capital (tsk), Pamplona is about ten minutes' drive from the site: whichever way you get there, make this city a first stop.
The Camping Ezcaba's top Pamplona picks are the fourteenth century Catedral de Santa María with Gothic cloister and Spain's second biggest bell tower; the town hall; the Church of San Saturnino, and the Museum of Navarre, four storeys of arty exhibits dating from prehistoric times to the twentieth century.
If you're in town during July, the world-famed Festival of San Fermin celebrating Navarre's patron saint is among the most visited in all of Spain and includes the centuries-old tradition of encierro or running of the bulls: if you've ever read Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises, these are the festivities at which Jake Barnes et al spend their Spanish sojourn.
