Liked: Well maintained and kept exceptionally clean. At one point we had a lot of students doing the Camino. There was noise, but was to be expected, and they cleaned up after themselves. The swimming pool was very nice addition. The man at reception spoke very good English. Disabled facilities were very good, and all on one level. There was a petrol station next door that stocked most things. Easy to get into Camino De Santiago by car. A must visit place We parked our car in ‘Parking Xoan XXIII’ multi-storey car park. Which was very close to the centre. 1h-1,31€ 2hr-2,62€ 3hr-3,94€ 4h-5,25€ 5hr-6,22€ 6hr-7,20€. Not suitable for tall vehicles. We felt it was a very safe car park. A very good experience all round. Thank you.

Disliked: Men’s shower heads need replacing, as water wasn’t coming out properly enough.

Liked: Great Location for sightseeing and walking. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good bar and restaurant. Mini supermarket literally next to site. Very clean and modern toilets and showers. Good choice of sunny/shady pitches.

Disliked: Access to pitches very tight for caravans, with pitch numbers marked on low concrete blocks which are a hazard to vans and motorhomes.

Local attractions

Ask on site for details of hiking routes in the local area – there are several marked trails to follow, taking in river views, farmland and woodlands. You can also take shorter strolls around places like the Salto das Pombas (20 minutes’ drive) and Fervenza das Hortas waterfalls (25 minutes) waterfalls or head to Portodemouros Reservoir (20 minutes) for lakeside walks and watersports including kayaking. If you’re not doing the complete Camino walk, it’s worth taking a day trip to Santiago de Compostela (half an hour) anyway – the city has a lot to see, including the huge cathedral, the Museum of the Galician People and the Galician Contemporary Art Centre, along with lots of places to sample local cuisine. For more days out, try a trip to Lugo (50 minutes) to explore its Roman sites and take a boat trip on the river or visit A Coruña (an hour) for fine coastal views, including those from the huge spherical lift that runs up San Pedro Hill. There’s a great aquarium and a science museum here too.
