When the Spanish coast comes a-callin’, the only sensible course of action is to give yourself over to the lure of sand, sea and sangria. All that awaits at Camping La Media Legua, a well-equipped spot between the seaside resorts of Benidorm and L’Albir (five minutes’ drive to either), on the Costa Blanca. The site is slightly inland, so you’re pretty much guaranteed a peaceful stay, undisturbed by the crowded pubs and lively restaurants along the coast; on the other hand, those establishments are close enough that if you want to join the party, you can do so with ease. In addition to spacious pitches, the site comes with indoor and outdoor pools (the latter fringed with palms that frame views of the Parc Natural de la Serra Gelada peaks), a gym for those who cannot go without leg/abs day for even a week, a pétanque court, a play area and a paddling pool for the kids. In short, whether you’re an active type, a ‘chill by the pool’ type or a family with young kids, you should find plenty of diversions here. Not forgetting your four-legged friends, who can run to their waggy tail’s content in the dog park. Other facilities include a bright, light-filled restaurant and a supermarket (handy for those who want to do their own cooking; a barbecue area is also available), plus modern toilet blocks with facilities for disabled guests and a launderette.

Liked Me gustó mucho este camping, las parcelas son muy amplias, hay baños y duchas repartidos por todo el camping y muy limpios y grandes. También usamos el gimnasio pequeño pero bien equipado. La piscina fue nuestro favorito, muy grande y con socorrista. También nos dieron la opción de hacer late check out porque nuestra parcela no estaba reservada el dia siguiente y pudimos estar hasta las 18:00h en vez de salir a las 10:00, fue un punto muy positivo para nosotros. El personal fue muy amable tanto en la entrada como en la salida. Estuvimos muy agusto durante nuesta estancia seguro que repetiremos!

Disliked Poca sombra debido a que es un camping muy nuevo, y los arboles son jovenes. Aun así nos dieron una parcela cerca de los baños para tener mas sombra.

Liked Que dire quand tout est parfait et à l’écart du centre benidorm qui est très animé et bruyant.Après les meilleurs campings en Espagne (pour moi)se trouvent dans ce secteur (alicante,benidorm)

Disliked Dommage qu’on ne puisse pas rentrer dans le camping après 23h00 alors qu’il y a quelqu’un à l’accueil après cette heure

Liked Location was good ,toilets and showers was nice, Great pool

Disliked Reception staff was shocking ,what a grumpy man ,very very rude ,Told us to be quite whilst he was talking haha.
Told us there was an absolute curfew after 11 at night at wasn't allowed to talk after this time at all .Made him self look like a total twat. Cafe man very grumpy also.felt a bit like a concentration camp after that .Definitely need some customer service lessons ,probably why it was very empty when we was there .Shame to have such poor staff ruin someone's business..

Liked Platsen var stor och rymlig. Rent och prydligt, jättetrevligt, bra fin Pool.

Disliked Elen bröts flera gånger, fanns inget avlopp/ränna till gråvattentanken. Ägaren (äldre mannen) i Restaurangen kunde varit lite trevligare, han ignorerade oss fullständigt när vi satte oss på borden utanför Restaurangen. Han gick förbi oss flera gånger utan att serva oss, till slut gick vi och åt på staden i Benidorm istället. Kunde funnits en genväg till bussen tvärs genom campingen istället för att behöva gå ute på den farliga motorvägen, en onödig runda runt campingen. Livsen var stängd, detta är helt obegripligt och jag tycker att den borde ha sköts av receptionspersonalen eftersom de inte såg ut att ha mycket att göra under sina pass.

Liked Pretty much everything. Fabulous site and facilities in a superb central location for both Benidorm and Albir/Altea. Friendly staff. Will certainly be returning and would definitely recommend

Liked Het goede restaurant, goede en vriendelijke bediening, volop keus en helemaal niet duur.

Disliked Dat.de campingwinkel niet open was ,je werd doorverwezen naar de supermendoza in het dorp,verschillende keren naar toe gefietst, heen gaat wel,terug meestal wind tegen en berg op.Gelukkig electrische fiets

Liked Pitch was large with its own water supply, electric and grey & black waste facilities.
Pool was lovely, large and we mostly had it to ourselves, lifeguard present between 10-6pm.
Showers, toilet block and washing up/laundry facilities were very clean and modern, showers spacious and powerful.
24 hr reception staff; restaurant was lovely with a varied menu.
Washing machine €5 included washing liquid/conditioner; tumble dryer €4.
Playground with safe equipment for children.
Free WiFi included.
All staff on site were friendly and helpful.
Bus into Benidorm was a short walk from the campsite €1.60 pp, no charge for our 4yr old granddaughter.

Disliked There was nothing we disliked about the site and have already recommended it to fellow campers who were travelling to Benidorm.

Local attractions

Two large expanses of sand at Benidorm are separated by a small headland with the Mirador del Castell - Balcó de la Mediterrània, a lookout point with white balustrades and a compass rose. Take a breather under the palm trees in Parc d’Elx before going for a stroll along the wavy beachside promenade. Aqualandia (10 minutes’ drive), in the foothills of the Serra Gelada, has waterslides, a slow river and a huge Jacuzzi pool. Residents at Terra Natura (10 minutes) include camels, elephants and colourful parakeets, while the thrill rides at Terra Mítica (15 minutes) are loosely based on ancient cultures. Take in views of Alicante (35 minutes) from the 9th-century Castell de Santa Bàrbara – see if you can locate the blue cupola of the Cocatedral de Sant Nicolau de Bari d’Alacant from up there. In town, the Basilica of St Mary of Alicante has an ornate façade, while the archaeological museum has collections ranging from Iberian prehistory and the Roman era to the Middle Ages.
