- In a green area of Spain known for its clear clean air
- Opposite a leisure complex with pools and sports courts
- Restaurant, bar café, pool, play area and covered communal area
Breathe deep… and relax. Castile and Leon site Camping Bosque de Gordón is in an area known as the ‘Lung of Spain’ for its mighty clean atmosphere, and is therefore a fine choice for folk who fancy a good few lungfuls of proper fresh air on their hols, or those afflicted with various respiratory conditions.
With that fresh air comes a forest setting and an outlook made up of the surrounding pine trees and other rural aspects, including the Bernesga River, a short stroll from the site. That’s not to say it’s in the middle of nowhere, however – a 10-minute amble from your forest retreat will get you over to the teeny town of La Pola de Gordón for various handy amenities including cafés, shops, banks and a train station.
Even closer to hand is the town’s leisure centre – it’s pretty much next door, in fact, for easy access to swimming pools, tennis courts, football pitches and the like. All just that bit too far away? A swimming pool, paddling pool and playground are on site for even more convenient activity, and there’s a chance to test your wits (and those of your pals/family…) at the site’s escape room.
Fight your way out of that situation and you can reward yourselves with eats and drinks at the restaurant or bar/café; there’s also a barbecue area for those who see alfresco cookery as an integral part of proceedings. Alongside the eating options in the main building are a games room, a lounge and a covered communal area that’s a popular spot for games of cards and the like.

Local attractions
Not sure where to start with your days out? Have a chat with the friendly team on site, who are armed with all sorts of ideas and info about the local area, including pointers for the various walking and bike trails in the vicinity or up in the peaks of the Picos de Europa, a short drive away.
Having a train station in town means easy jaunts to the fine city of León, 35 kilometres away – pilgrims flock here from across the globe to see the handsome 13th-century cathedral, but it's also worth touring the Renaissance Palacio de los Guzmanes, perusing works at the contemporary art museum and seeking out tapas spots in the Old Town (crucially, this is one of the cities where nibbles still come free with your drink…).
A little closer to home, the town of Astorga (an hour's drive) is worth a visit; if you’ve got a tad more time on your hands, day trips to Oviedo and Gijon are easily doable by public transport or in the car (about an hour and 15 minutes' drive).
