  • Spacious and shaded pitches at a remote Castile-La Mancha rural site
  • Yeste 25 minutes' drive; next to Segura river for swims and fishing
  • Outdoor pool, restaurant/bar, games room and launderette on site
Spacious, serene and scenic is a good way to sum up the pitches at Camping Río Segura. This Castile-La Mancha site is on the banks of the Segura river and has a backdrop of the mountains of the Los Calares del Mundo y de la Sima Natural Park, so it’s got fabulous views all round. With the nearest sizeable urban area (Yeste) being 25 minutes' drive away, it's also gloriously remote and an excellent base for those craving real rural relaxation. The marked-out pitches here all have plenty of space and shade from the trees, as well as having electric and TV connections and wifi that stretches across the site. Shared facilities include a launderette, a grocery store and well-equipped bathrooms with accessible facilities and a baby bathroom. These rural landscapes lend themselves well to outdoor activities like fishing, hiking, climbing and watersports, and the adjacent river has some lovely beach areas for paddling and pools for wild swimming. There are several little local villages to visit for a taste of traditional rural life, and you can easily take a trip to the castle and market in Yeste. Whatever you choose to fill your day with, when you get back to base you'll be able to have a dip in the outdoor pool (open in summer months), a meal or drink in the restaurant/bar and perhaps a fun game of darts or billiards in the games room (which also has kids’ games).

Local attractions

There are hikes galore in the Calares del Mundo and La Sima Natural Park, taking you through forest landscapes to waterfalls and mountain viewpoints, with wildlife like ibex, otters and eagles to look out for. And if you run out of trails here, cross into Andalusia for walks or scenic drives among the caves, waterfalls and ravines of the Cazorla Segura and Las Villas Natural Park. Other adventures to try nearby include the cliffside climbing trail at Vía Ferrata Yeste (40 minutes' drive) and watersports including rafting, canoeing and canyoning at Fuensanta Reservoir (50 minutes). If it's time to bring your heart rate down instead, try some fishing in the Segura river or soak in the thermal waters of Balneario de Tus (50 minutes). A visit to Yeste (25 minutes) should be on the schedule for all guests, ideally on a Thursday when the market is in town. On any day, it's a lovely place for a stroll, with a large castle and several nice places to eat local dishes.
