What customers say

Lovely countryside, quiet vibe, near a beach. Guests loved the well-kept horses & attentive hosts. Downsides: few toilets/showers, poor waste disposal, few amenities like electricity. Tough access roads. Bar sometimes closed.

Liked Nothing

Disliked 1)Receptionist tried to overcharge us
2) showers and toilets were very dirty and there was mould on the ceiling and walls
3) the pitch itself was very ugly dusty and dirty
4) the TAP for drinking water was not usable it sprayed everywhere including over the person trying to use it.
5) the place to throw away rubbish was overflowing with rubbish and flies all over it
6) the washing up area was primitive to say the least
7) the whole campsite was pitch black when the sun went down meaning you couldn't find your way round could trip up and fall down a hole or over an Edge - very dangerous
8) the electric hookup was extremely unsafe it was not meant for outside and was an basic indoor extension lead.
9) the campsite was really an equestrian centre which I thought would be a benefit as I love horses. However the conditions in which the horses were kept was very sad and worrying. Many of the horses were in tiny enclosures with no shelter from the sun and nothing to eat. One had deep wounds!
Overall: I think the owners of the equestrian centre we're just trying to make money on the side and offer campers as little as possible whilst charging too much.

Wild camping would have far exceeded this.

Liked Paisible

Local attractions

Dotted with palm trees and skirted by a cycle path, the Ribeirinha area of Portimão (15 minutes’ drive) stretches along the Arade River. Follow it all the way to the Museu de Portimão, which houses displays on local history, from Roman artefacts to shipbuilding items. At the foot of the Serra de Monchique mountains, the city of Silves (20 minutes) is known for the distinctive red-sandstone bulk of the crenellated Castelo de Silves, built during the country’s Muslim rule in the 12th century. The Gothic cathedral was built on a former mosque dating from the same period. The Ria Formosa Nature Park (one hour), just outside Faro, includes sandy beaches fringed by dunes, barrier islands and wetlands. Such diversity of habitats ensures a varied range of birdlife, such as egrets, curlews and storks.
