Stays of all sorts are on the cards at this stellar park. The lands around Camping Stelleplas are dotted with dams, creeks, villages, beaches and harbours, providing a scenic setting for steam train rides, boat trips, watersports activities and cycle touring. Stelleplas public recreation area is right next door for water-based pursuits: a fishing lake is on hand for angling addicts, and for those with tiny people in tow, the open-air waterpark’s two pools, diving boards and waterslide are a highly amusing option for leisure days. More kid-oriented capers can be had at the playground, and at the high season kids' club. A snack bar is on site for light bites and bread can be bought from a vending machine at the park. Elsewhere, a restaurant with a viewsome lakeside terrace is a convenient couple of minutes' walk away: there you can have yourself chilled drinks, coffees, snacks and meals in the cosy brasserie area or outside overlooking the lake. A supermarket is a kilometre away in Heinkenszand for the procurement of picnic supplies and other bits.

Local attractions

Heaps of options are to hand around here for tiddlers: the amusements of Klok'uus fun park are a paltry two kilometres away, and more of a similar nature are 15 kilometres away at Mini Mundi theme park. If kids are of an animal-appreciating nature, suggest a trip to the animal enclosures of Berkenhof Tropical Zoo, a speedy seven kilometres from base. For a scenic railway ride, the Goes-Borsele steam train is a splendid option; settle back into your banquette as the vintage carriage puffs its way through the Zeeland countryside. Or, if you prefer your sightseeing from the waters, then boat trips on Veerse Meer lake are the way to go; also here you’ll be able to get stuck into watersports activities such as canoeing and waterskiing. Cider sippers might like a trip to the orchard museum 10 kilometres away, and surveyors of the high seas will most certainly appreciate a wander around Vlissingen’s maritime museum, a short drive away. Elsewhere, city-based days can be had over in medieval Goes, and the lights and sights of Antwerp are a 55-minute drive away through the Westerscheldtunnel.
