Local attractions
Cuijk (10 minutes’ drive) is a junction for Roman roads and has seen plenty of fighting in its lifetime. There’s a big Roman bridge that was built over the Maas and those of you who’d like to dig deeper can see Roman exhibitions in the Foundation Museum Ceuclum (10 minutes). The nearby Castle Tongelaar (20 minutes) is another reminder of its prosperous times.
That’s not the only place of old… Nijmegen (25 minutes) has plenty of historic sites, including the Grote Markt (half an hour), Saint Stephen's Church (half an hour) and medieval buildings in the lower part of the city. Learn about the city’s underground passages in De Bastei (35 minutes) museum or Roman, Arab and Jewish culture at the Museum park Heilig Landstichting Orientalis (25 minutes).
Perhaps you’re keen to get the kids on a few rides and get in a few family thrills. Here’s your chance: Amusementspark Tivoli (25 minutes) has kids’ rollercoasters and rides.
