Well, this is quite the spot for a desert adventure. If you’d like a dose of genuine Moroccan hospitality, book your stay at Bivouac Relax – it’s in the middle of the desert at Tazoulaït, just off the road between Sidi Ali Tafraoute and Merzouga. Forget the tourist traps, this is the real thing.
A friendly on-site team will give you a rapturous welcome and show you about the place. Pitches are scattered under the shade of a palm grove, with mesmerising views over tree-covered valleys to stony Black Desert foothills. Facilities include a café – with desert views – and a restaurant serving simple regional dishes such as tagine, always accompanied by traditional mint tea.
Other handy on-site amenities include the modern and fully accessible shower rooms, washing machines and 24-hour security.
This is such a peaceful place to relax and recharge – wait for the spectacular sunset on a clear evening and spend a few moments in quiet contemplation of your surroundings – your real life will feel very far away indeed.

Five minutes’ walk away is Hddou Authentic Camp (closed on the height of the summer), where you can take another dive into Moroccan culture with regional cuisine in a typical tented encampment.
