  • Restaurant, adventure park, outdoor pools, harbour and disco room
Spectacular Italian lake views – and a beach within ambling distance – and free boat trips for guests… which might you fancy first at Camping Village Punta Navaccia on the edge of Lake Trasimeno? Or there's landing a catch or two in the lush angling waters of the lake, or plunging into the blue water for a wild swim, or tramping around the lake to spy its several hillside castles – this last is where one should pretend one is at Tolkien's Helm's Deep... Set a few minutes' drive from the Umbria town of Tuoro sul Trasimeno, Punta Navaccia is in a land of activities and attractions as well as some splendid sights: the lake is surrounded by olive grove hills and vineyards; three islands are ready to explore among its waters, and ancient Perugia is within half an hour's drive. Just to the south of the lake, about 20 minutes' drive from the site, there's birdwatching for the eagle eyed at La Valle Oasis nature reserve. But you'll likely decide to save most of this for your second week. For Punta Navaccia has direct access to a beach with parasols and sun umbrellas for those who wish to be idle, and with a floating platform over the lake for those who might desire to dive in for a dip. A pool and a paddling pool are among the seven-hectare grounds, as well as a small harbour with moorings and a pier; there are also kids' nature areas and inflatable toys. Other leisure facilities include a playground, a multisports court, a kids' adventure park, a disco room and a ping pong table, and evening shows, activities and tournaments arranged by the multilingual team. Meals and drinks are easily sourced at the restaurant-pizzeria, site supermarket and two communal barbecue areas.

Liked: Campeggio ben fornito.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: molte possibilità di svago, campo da palla a volo, campi da pingpong, campo da calcetto, e piscina, spazi ampissimi. Serate e giochi organizzati dagli animatori del campeggio adatte prevalentemente per i bambini

Disliked: pochissima pulizia e manutenzione.

Liked: Lage am See, kleiner Markt und Bar, nettes Personal. Sehr hundefreundlich.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass campsite (two person)

Liked: The situation (beautiful outlook across the lake), good supermarket near site, helpfulness of staff (thank you !), equipment available (washing machine and tumble drier particularly given the time of year - reasonably priced). Some showers are more modern than others but all are perfectly good enough. Rubbish was well managed unlike in many other sites. Some reviews have commented on mosquitoes - these are inevitable with warmth and by a lake but they were not as bad as in many of the other sites we’ve stayed in. The pitches we were offered were easy to access with a long caravan with room for porch, car and table and chairs outside.

Disliked: Noise from disco on Friday and Saturday nights until between 2.30 and 3.00 am in Autumn / Winter. (Don’t know about high season ). One of the owners did speak to the disco people (thank you !) as they are meant to finish by 2 am but to no effect. Such a shame as for us this would be a 5 star site otherwise and we appreciate this is beyond the owners’ control. Probably wouldn’t bother younger people as much. Just something to be aware of if you need a good night’s sleep the next day as it is a peaceful site apart from this. We would come back and indeed extended our stay this time.

Local attractions

Swimming, watersports, boat trips, sailing, hiking… all are easily available from here. The excellent water quality of Lake Trasimeno means it's stuffed with fishy specimens such as pike and carp too, so do bring your rod if you're an angling type. Paths aplenty for walking, cycling and mountain biking are around the lake, most signposted and all among spectacular scenery. Or opt for castles and town sightseeing around settlements like Tuoro, Passignano sul Trasimeno, San Feliciano, Castiglione del Lago and Borghetto, or venture into the vineyards of the Umbrian and Tuscan hills for wine tastings and tours. Elsewhere, reach Trasimeno's Isola Maggiore by boat from from Punta Navaccia; if you're a twitcher, boats go from San Feliciano to the La Valle Oasis nature reserve too, where guided birdwatching tours run twice a week in summer. You might also like to take a trip to Tuoro sul Trasimeno, site of a famous battle between the Romans and Carthaginians, which now has a great museum to explore.
