It's free, quick and easy!
- On an olive farm about five minutes' drive from Lake Garda beaches
- Within 10 minutes' drive of Torbole and Busatte Adventure
- Home-produced extra-virgin olive oil for sale on site
They say good things come in small packages, and Camping Grumèl proves them right... this cute and compact site's about a five-minute drive from the beaches of tourist fave Torbole in Lake Garda. It's on a handsome olive farm in the Alto Garda area, far enough to feel like you’re getting away from it all but close enough to the beach if regular sessions on the sand (with a gelato in hand, of course) are on the itinerary...
Let the kids loose at Camping Grumèl’s playground while you busy yourself prepping the barbecue – you can pick up meat and veg from one of the local farmers’ markets like Maso Zandonai a 25-minute drive away (and stop off at the Mart modern art museum en route for a bit of a culture fix). Or just head to one of the nearby supermarkets: a couple of well-stocked shops are less than 10 minutes by car. You won’t need to pick up olive oil either, as the site sells its own extra-virgin oil to drizzle over your salads.
Amenities at Camping Grumèl include toilets and showers, a washing-up area and a launderette. And for scenery? The whole site’s set 150 metres above sea level, so you’ll have really rather scenic views of the surrounding green fields and rocky hills wherever you turn.

Local attractions
Camping Grumèl’s under 10 minutes' stroll from the village of Nago and its ruins of an ancient castle. It’s also a couple of kilometres away from the road circling around Lake Garda, so you can spend your days racing around the hairpin bends or exploring the Italian architecture of the villages dotted along its edges.
Stop by 13th-century Scaligero Castle and climb up to the ramparts for views across the lake, then book a boat trip and guided tour to Isola del Garda with its gorgeous villa and manicured gardens.
The local area's also a haven for adrenaline-spiking sports like rock climbing: walk to Belvedere about 15 minutes away if your idea of fun is dangling from a cliff face. There are also paths for trekking and hiking close by, including at Busatte Adventure within 10 minutes' drive, with rope courses as well as spectacular views over the sparkly water of Lake Garda.
Families are also fond of the rollercoasters at Gardaland, an hour in the car down the coast.
