Tuscany, anyone? And how a Tuscany vineyard setting and the spectacular city of Siena within half an hour's drive? Such is the splendid state of affairs at Camping Le Soline near Murlo – and in a highly scenic setting too, with lushly green Tuscan hill views all around. This is a tiptop spot for investigating Tuscany: you could just set off into the hills from here for hikes (accompanied by picnics of the finest Tuscan cuisine), or use the site as a base to see the region's fine old sights such as the aforementioned Siena and then fab and ancient Florence, an hour and 15 minutes' drive from there. Or have wanders and wildlife watching days at the two nature reserves to the site's south, or around the Sienese Natural Reserve of Alto Merse a short drive north west: all days also accompanied by picnics of the finest Tuscan cuisine… Camping Le Soline has a quiet vibe in low season and a more festive atmosphere during the busiest summer months, with a full range of activities and entertainment including aqua gym and archery. Whether you're planning an active or a relaxed holiday, you'll surely want to check out the site restaurant too… and the bar with its spacious terrace to take in more of those spectacular views. A big outdoor pool and a paddling pool are to hand for cooling dips for all ages, and a hot tub is indoors for relaxed soaks. Off site, Le Soline is 15 minutes' drive from the famed medieval town of Murlo.

Local attractions

The medieval town of Murlo (15 minutes' drive away) has been so untouched by development it's like an open-air museum: it still has its ancient walls and is a fably scenic place for a saunter around old streets and buildings. The history of the town (humans have lived here since Etruscan times) is all at Murlo's Museo Civico Archeologico in the old Palazzone or bishop's palace. From Murlo, take the mining trail route along the old railway line by the Crevole stream for a scenic stroll, to hike through the surrounding woods to the ruins of the Hermitage of Montespecchio, dating back to the 13th century. Then on to Siena for more old-site saunters, around the UNESCO World Heritage Site of its medieval centre, the Piazza del Campo and the town hall; make sure you clamber up the Torre del Mangia too for splendid views over the city. Or (and) drive east for 45 minutes to reach the hill town of Montalcino, home to a medieval fortress and ruined castle as well as one of Italy's most expensive wines.

Disliked: Abflüsse Duschen/Waschbecken fließen schlecht ab… Sanitär könnte etwas sauberer sein (Spinnweben, tote Insekten)

Liked: Pool was clean, facilities were nearby, staff were great

Disliked: Location difficult to get to in 6.8m camper, Pitch was on a slope (we kept rolling out of bed) toilets had no handsoap, had to pay extra for showers (they were cold) had to pay extra for sun loungers

Aussicht einzigartig! Dort entschleunigt man super! Personal sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit! Der Pool sucht seines Gleichen( 25 m Bahn und rund 170cm tief)
Toiletten etwas älter aber sauber!
Als Tipp das Dorf erkunden am besten am frühen Abend!!!

Liked: La piscina, aunque no tenía espacio para tumbarse.
Las parcelas estaban bastante bien.

Disliked: Los baños y duchas han visto días mejores y bueno... todo el camping en general. Te cobran extra por el agua caliente... En agosto no es un problema, pero pagando lo que pagas podría estar incluido.
El de la recepción está cuando le apetece así que la comunicación con el no es muy fácil.

Liked: Tres bon séjour au Soline! camping et piscine bien entretenus, personnel à l'écoute, arrangeant et sympathique, choix de l'emplacement au moment de l'arrivée, à l'ombre dans l'ensemble, petite supérette, calme et situé à environ 30 a 40min des sites à visiter. Wi-Fi!
