  • No-frills campsite close to hilltop Sorso and Asinara National Park
  • Direct access to Marina di Sorso beach; 20 minutes to Sassari
  • Dog-friendly park with pizzeria, two pools and themed entertainment
A family-oriented site with an easy-going vibe, Camping Village Li Nibari has direct access to secluded Marina di Sorso beach on Sardinia’s Gulf of Asinara. If you fancy mixing up a bit of countryside with your coast time, it's handy to note that hilltop villages and national parks are also waiting to be explored close by. Not that you have to go out at all if you don't fancy it. Life here centres on the pools complex, surrounded by sun decks and shaded by pine trees. In July and August, there’s a daily schedule of events to keep all the family entertained with very little effort. Toddlers can run around at the kids’ club, and you could hire bikes to explore the coastline, or take a lesson at the surf school nearby. The action carries on after dark too, with themed entertainment and a club for teenagers. Barbecues are provided here, and you can pick up everything you need for your alfresco meals at the handy on-site shop. If you don’t fancy cooking, no problem: there’s a choice of quick snacks at the bar, and a takeaway pizzeria too, or you could try the simple seafood cafés on the beach. A round-up of site amenities includes washing machines (you’ll need coins) and a drying room, plus communal fridges. Well-behaved dogs are welcomed, and there are plenty of walks along the dunes backing the beach as well as a dog park on site.

Local attractions

The promise of wild animals will tempt most kids away from the beach; Asinara National Park (25 minutes to the ferry at Porto Torres) is on a small island, so hop on a boat to explore deserted sea coves, hike rugged trails and watch out for elusive white donkeys. Dig into the slow-moving Sardinian way of life in hilltop Sorso (20 minutes), a medieval village with a couple of small museums and spectacular views down to the coast. It’s a pretty spot to wander around backstreets and tuck into mounds of pasta in family trattorias. Lively Sassari (20 minutes), Sardinia's second largest city, is also worth exploring. Dig right into its historic heart to discover elegant piazzas lined by grand palazzos and hidden churches, with cool shaded gardens scattered around for a bit of respite from the heat. You can organise several foodie tours at the site too – ask at reception for details.
