City sightseers, serenity seekers and countryside connoisseurs will be tickled pink with the location of Italy's Happy Village… its setting in the Lazio hills is a simple 15 kilometres north of central Rome, in a remote and green location but with easy access to the capital. Your road to Rome can be travelled by hailing the shuttle bus from the site to Prima Porta metro station, where you can catch a service to the city centre. For a less hectic day, ride half an hour from the station to the fresh air and clear waters of Lake Bracciano for swimming, hiking or trips on horseback. But. You'll need a fair bit of time on site too, as it's all mighty peaceful and pretty around its centrepiece of gorgeously set pool, among palm trees and lush hedges, and with views of Veio Park. Both the main pool and the cute circular paddling pool have spacious sun terraces – and all are next to the fine site restaurant-pizzeria so you eat alfresco by the water and under the palm trees. Takeaways are available too and there's a well-stocked mini market if you want to sort your own meals.

Liked: Free shuttle bus to train station for onward travel. Laundry facilities at reasonable cost. Onsite facilities ie bar, restaurant, swimming pool Hot showers. No allocated pitch, find your own.

Disliked: No toilet seats or toilet paper. Very dated, small shower cubicles. No disabled facilities. Wash up area had broken steps leading to the area which was also in need of refurbishment. Shuttle bus needs seat belts that work.

Liked: What can I say the site was perfect in every way. Location and ease to get into the centre of Rome could not be beaten. Shuttle bus from the site takes you to the nearest station in 10 minutes 20 minutes on the train you are in the middle of Rome. Plenty of facilities and spotless. Be aware if you are booking tickets to see the Colosseum or the vatican book tickets for late morning to give you chance to get there.

Disliked: Wir waren Anfang September und der Market war nicht besonders gut gefüllt. Sanitär sind veraltet und nicht besonders einladend.

Liked: Très bon accueil, bien situé par rapport à Rome (nous avons loué un parking hors ZTL plutôt que d'utiliser la navette du camping et le train de banlieue). Bel emplacement avec de l'ombre. Nombreux services (resto, petite boutique). Sanitaires bien entretenus. Belle piscine.

Disliked: Plus de navettes le soir et surtout plus tard auraient pu nous inciter à utiliser ce service.

Liked: Pools were great, restaurant was good, location was good (shuttle to Primo Porto station was 10 minutes) and then 20-25 minutes train to Rome.

Disliked: Pitches were unallocated and took a little time to locate one which fitted our motorhome (7.2m). Washrooms could do with some love.

Local attractions

Rome and Lake Bracciano are the main attractions around this lovely landscape, both with enough to do to keep you busy for yonks. Among the main highlights in Rome are the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Vatican City and St Peter's Basilica, but you'll find a vast amount of ancient architecture to see among its old streets, squares and public parks. Art is a huge deal here too, as showcased at the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, the MAXXI museum and the National Gallery of Modern Art, while threads fans have plenty to pick from among the posh clothing boutiques along the Via dei Condotti. You may be keen for a break after all that… so take the bus from Prima Porta metro station to the beaut waters of Bracciano, one of Italy's biggest lakes and now a protected area making up the Bracciano-Martignano Regional Natural Park. Lake activities include canoeing, scuba diving, sailing and swimming; above the water, have a potter around the handsome old town of Bracciano and its medieval castle of Orsini-Odescalchi. Closer to the site, 10 minutes by car will take you to the huge Museo Civico di Zoologia or civic zoo museum with over five million exhibits, next to the Bioparc zoo. Within about 20 minutes' drive, the Santuario Etrusco dell'Apollo archaeological site is a famed Etruscan shrine with tombs and a temple in spectacular setting.

Bookings cannot be amended within 1 day(s) of arrival.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Dogs

Dogs must be kept on leashes and supervised at all times.
Guide dogs are allowed on site free of charge.

The management reserves the right to deny access or terminate the stay of those guests whose behavior is deemed unsuitable. No refunds will be offered.

Reception is open from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. between 05/01 and 09/30.

Safety

Barbecues are permitted but must be raised off the ground and attended by an adult at all times.
