  • Peaceful pitches on an organic, family-run Emilia Romagna farm
  • A 20-minute drive to Reggio Emilia; Parma 35 minutes
  • Vineyard and farm tours; organic produce, wine and beer for sale
Staying at Agricola Giovanardi in the Reggio Emilia area (around 20 minutes' drive from the town) puts you in Italian gastronomic heaven. Here you can stay in peaceful countryside on an organic farm producing organic flour, pasta, biscuits, honey and fruit juice, along with craft beer and the region’s distinctive sparkling Lambrusco wine – and it’s all available for sale. Pitches have vineyard views and are tucked under trees on flat terrain accessible to all, and no-fuss facilities extend to a loo and shower, plus a small barbecue (please provide your own charcoal and lighting) and a small basketball court. Family pets are welcome to accompany you, and you can all get some exercise in fields surrounding the property (just please make sure your dog is on a lead around the farm’s free-range hens). Should you fancy eating out, trattorias and pizzerias are 20 minutes’ walk away in the historic town of Castelnovo di Sotto. Farm, orchard and vineyard tours can be arranged, and you can also book in advance to learn about the honey bees in their hives. There’s also a collection of vintage tractors to admire, tucked away in a vast barn adorned with a striking art deco-style mural.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked Lovely quiet location on a farm. Very friendly and helpful host with an impressive collection of vintage tractors! Only three pitches which suited us. The honesty box with honey, wine pasta etc. was good.

Disliked Nothing

Liked Really peaceful location, close to Parma. Simone provided a warm welcome and went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay. There's a produce from the farm available at a very reasonable price including pasta, beer, sauces and honey

Local attractions

Agricola Giovanardi is 35 minutes’ drive from the ancient university city of Parma, where you can tour the fine Romanesque-era cathedral and its neighbouring baptistery, check out the art museums in Palazzo della Pilotta, stroll along the River Po, and enjoy a frothy cappuccino in a terrace café. Parma is home of delicious Prosciutto di Parma, so be sure to pick some up from one of the many gourmet delis. The Reggio Emilia region is also known for its Parmesan cheese; if you’d like to see behind the scenes in a local dairy, the site owners are happy to organise this for you, and there are also several Lambrusco wineries within about 40 minutes’ drive that are open for tours and tastings. Petrolheads may prefer to spend the day admiring the priceless collection of vintage sports cars at the sleek, interactive Museum Ferrari Maranello (50 minutes' drive). Modena (40 minutes) has an equally fascinating collection at a modern museum dedicated to the life of Enzo Ferrari, the man behind the supercar dream.
