Fancy a holiday where you can swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea, watch spectacular sunsets and eat delicious food topped with spicy ’nduja? All that (and more) could be yours when you book a spot at Anna Villaggio Camping, a family-friendly site a five-minute drive from Palmi, a seaside resort in Calabria (the tip of Italy’s boot).
This holiday village sits about 300 metres away (that’s a five minute walk – if you walk slowly…) from a ‘spiaggia libera’ – that is, a beach with no facilities. If that’s your jam, be sure to bring at least your own umbrella – the sun gets pretty hot around these parts. If you prefer a beach with umbrellas and sunloungers for hire, there are several such spots a five-minute drive further south along the coast.
And on days when you can’t be bothered to leave the site and drive, you can just kick back (perhaps with a drink from the lounge bar and a good book) by the pool or on the covered terrace. While the kids have a playground with swings and a trampoline (plus a horseriding centre next door), the adults get to have their own play area too, with evening entertainment such as karaoke and dancing sessions.
In addition to several barbecue stations and a communal freezer, the site has a restaurant serving regional specialities. There is also a modern toilet and shower block with facilities for disabled guests.
