Moor yourself for watery hols at Camping Strandhaus Sonsfeld, a family-friendly site five minutes’ drive from the Cleves town of Rees and 25 minutes from Bocholt. This is a top spot for anyone who’s as comfortable on water as on land. On the banks of the Hageneer Meer oxbow lake, this scenic site makes it easy to have splashing time: dive into the swimming area on the edge of the lake, hire rowboats or pedalos to stay dry, and bring along that rod for a bit of fishing. There’s plenty hereabouts for landlubbers too: kids in need of some on-site time can entertain themselves at the playground, on the trampoline or with a match or two of table tennis. There’s a forested area less than five minutes’ walk away for leafy wanders too, and biking and hiking trails nearby for longer jaunts. No need to fret about meal time when activities lead to hunger either… The nearby villages are safe bets for visiting restaurants. Cold drinks are available on site should you want them.

Inhaberin sehr nett uns wurden ihre privaten Fahrräder angeboten zu den Einkaufsmöglichkeiten zu gelangen da diese auch 2,5 km entfernt waren
Lokal thailändische Küche auch sehr gut

Disliked WLAN sehr schlechter empfang
Sanitär Anlage veraltet, Duschen nur heißes Wasser
Enge Stellplätze keine 4 m zum Nachbarn entfernt,
Anlage könnte mehr Pflege im ausenbereich vertragen

Liked Parceli jest tylko 7 i nie są duże. To jest kameralny Kemping więc nie ma co oczekiwać, ale jak ktoś potrzebuje ciszy nad wodą to jest to dobre miejsce.

Disliked Sanitariaty są czyste tylko widać upływ czasu. W jednej kabinie pomimo wrzucenia żetonu ciepła woda nie leciała. Jest tylko jedna umywalka na mycie naczyń więc trochę za mało.

Liked Kleiner, aber sehr ruhiger Stellplatz für Wohnwagen und Wohnmobile bis maximal 7 Meter. Mit Vorzelt passen maximal 6 Fahrzeuge drauf, kleine Mobile bis 8 Stellplätze. Alle mit Seeblick. Kostenlose Bootsleihe , WLAN und Strom. Kinderspielplatz. China Restaurant auf dem Platz (sehr gutes Essen). Einkaufen in der Nähe (6-10 km ) möglich. Preis Leistung Top. Sehr liebe Platzverwaltung .

Disliked Nicht direkt Negativ: Leicht abfallende Wiesenfläche . Sanitäreinrichtung ist einfach , etwas in die Jahre gekommen aber Sauber. Für Strom sollte man längere Kabel dabei haben.

Liked Hot water in the one working shower was great but the coin operated box was hard to use.
Nice clean site, toilets, shower and restaurant.
The on site restaurant was superb. Good service as well.

Disliked Very small pitch - just enough room for the camping car squeezed next to a permanent fixture. Mens toilet was unavailable so you had to share the ladies one instead. Poor lighting in the block and no hot water in the sinks makes wet shaving difficult. We did stop in the middle of a winter February though.

Liked The Vietnamese restaurant next to the campsite was pretty good. Site is next to pretty river.

Disliked Lady who runs camp was impatient and rude. Demanded cash. Got angry when I asked about WiFi (which was broken)
Tiny tight roads lead to tiny campsite. No reception or signs to tell you where to go.

Liked I can’t recall anything that was likeable,just don’t bother,there are far better campsites available

Disliked Rude host,tired facilities, cramped touring pitche,non existent wifi and overcharged for use of the pitiful Luke warm shower,pitch up stated £1 per shower but charged £2 by forceful host.
The Most unpleasant experience in 9 years of touring Europe.

Local attractions

If spending time wandering city streets appeals, this is a particularly well-placed site. The closest city is Oberhausen (half an hour’s drive away) where there’s an aquarium to explore, and an indoor Legoland Discovery Centre provides the building blocks for a top-notch hol. The indoor ski slope in Bottrop is 40 minutes away, as is the city’s impressive tetrahedron sculpture, with climbs of the latter leading to some pretty views over the countryside. More traditional city experiences can be had in Essen 50 minutes from the site, with museums to learn in, a mansion to be envious of, botanic gardens to stroll about and (of course) plenty of shopping to do. City days don’t all have to take place in the present either – LVR-Römermuseum (on the site of the old Roman city of Colonia Uldia Traiana), Germany’s largest archaeological open-air museum, is less than half an hour from base and a must-visit for history buffs keen on seeing reconstructed amphitheatres and temples, experiencing life in ancient times, and watching plenty of re-enactments and shows. Got kids in tow? Make tracks first for Bocholt, 25 minutes away, where the indoor waterpark will keep them entertained (and grownups can treat themselves to spa days), then to Kernie’s Wunderland (15 minutes) to spin around rides and zoom along rollercoasters. Budding zoologists might prefer days among the animals, so make sure Biotopwildpark Anholter Schweiz (15 minutes) and Kleve zoo (half an hour) are on the list.
