- Repurposed circus trailer in a quiet rural Prignitz location
- A 20-minute drive to Perleberg; walking and bike trails close by
- Single unit with south-facing terrace and horses on site
For many people, an outdoor stay is all about freedom and fresh air – and you’ll get both of those in abundance when you stay at Liberty, a sweet little glamping spot in the Prignitz region.
This is one of Germany’s least densely populated areas, so you’ll have plenty of scope to wander through the surrounding countryside without feeling like you’re bumping up against loads of other people. The area is dotted with small historic villages, traditional churches and nature reserves, and there are plenty of walking trails and cycle paths as well as waterways to canoe or paddleboard along at your own pace.
Your accommodation is in a laidback spot within well-kept gardens and surrounded by pastures and fields, so it’s a lovely space in which to kick back for a little while and enjoy the rural setting. As it’s just a single cabin, you’ll have no neighbours here other than the birds flitting through the trees and the horses munching their hay in the next-door field.
That said, this spot is rural rather than remote; when you do need some urban amenities and human contact, it’s easy to get to Karstädt (20 minutes’ drive) or to one of the nearby Hanseatic towns (Perleberg, Seehausen and Werben are all within 50 minutes’ drive).
Back at base, you’ll be staying in a cute little circus trailer that’s been repurposed into a cosy cabin for two, with handy facilities including twin beds, a well-equipped kitchenette, heating, a toilet or hot shower. Outside, you’ll be able to relax on the deckchairs on your south-facing terrace, perhaps lighting a barbecue or drinking the wine that’s kindly gifted to all visitors.

Local attractions
This isn’t an area that’s packed with big attractions – and that’s really the appeal of it, as you’ll be able to wander at will without feeling the pressure to schedule lots of activities. Wander on foot, ride bikes, bring canoes to paddle along local streams and rivers – whichever you pick, you’re bound to come across traditional villages, historic sites and pretty views.
Fancy mixing that local pottering with a bit of town time? Perleberg (20 minutes’ drive) is a good place to start, with well-preserved medieval streets, outdoor sculptures and a zoo as well as the excellent DDR-Geschichtsmuseum, packed with interesting artefacts from the past.
Seehausen (35 minutes) and Werben (50 minutes) are also good options for exploring the area’s Hanseatic past, while Wittenberge (half an hour) has some attractive buildings including the highly decorated Haus Der Vier Jahreszeiten.
