Liked: The site felt alive and welcoming

Disliked: I could complain about late evening music, but I’d just be grumpy and old. And I fell asleep anyway. The live band was good.

Liked: Bestelservice voor ontbijt. Schaduwrijke plaatsen. Voldoende groot.

Powered grass and earth campsite (large)

Liked: Lovely atmosphere of the site, very friendly reception and bar staff. Lots to do on site, swimming pool (which was welcome in 30 degree plus heat) shower block was clean and tidy at all times, 1.3KM up the road is a vineyard where you can do wine tasting. The mountain village of Gordes is 14 KM away, this is a place you MUST visit, French charm overload!

Disliked: No loo rolls or hand wash but most French sites don’t to be fair. And it was VERY windy there most of the time (nothing you can do about this)

Powered grass and earth campsite (large)

Liked: We liked the location of this site being close to many of the well known beauty spots in Provence including Gordes and Roussillon. They swimming pool is generously proportioned with plenty of loungers. The surrounding area is very flat so great for cycling. Although no footpaths, there is little traffic so walking is easy too.

Disliked: It was great being in such a rural location but this means that there are no services such as supermarket, restaurants within easy walking distance. So if you are in a motorhome arrive we’ll stocked up. Wifi at the pitch has to be paid for.

Local attractions

Around its 120,000 hectares of forest, vineyard, mountains and gorges, the Luberon National Park has many hundreds of kilometres of walking trails catering for serious hikers and casual strollers. Other active options include paddling a canoe down the Sorgue river or swinging through the branches of a treetop adventure course – Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, half an hour away, is the place for both of these. A particularly memorable (and picworthy) place for a walk is the Colorado Provençal area: a15-minute drive from the site will take you to a spectacular landscape of reds, yellows and oranges, with stunning rock formations including natural fairy chimneys and manmade structures left by former ochre mines. For a spot of history and culture, make the 20-minute drive to Gordes to visit its 16th-century château and Stone Age village of bories, and take in some scenic views from its hilltop perch. A little closer to home are the prehistoric caves just outside Gargas, said by some to date back a whopping 27,000 years.
