- Rural site on the banks of a lake between Niozelles and La Brillane
- Private lake with watersports centre and fishing
- Pool, Jacuzzis, solarium and restaurant terrace with lake views
What a lush lake – and stuffed to the gills with trout and carp for your angling pleasure too.
These calm waters are the centrepiece of the green and serene sanctuary of L'Ôasis de Provence, an eight-hectare rural site between the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence villages of Niozelles and La Brillane. Fish placidly here along the lake's shores, or get out on the water on a pedalo or paddleboard: the L'Ôasis de Provence team have set this remote countryside site up to suit guests young and old, whether you want to get lively or get lazy.
For the lively, L'Ôasis de Provence has its own leisure centre, with paddleboard hire for the grownups and pedalos available for all sizes (hire fishing kit too if you haven't brought your own). The site also has a pool and paddling pool for getting active in the water, a playground to keep the kids occupied, and a busy lounge bar that holds regular theme evenings and broadcasts the major sporting events of the season.
Non to all that, merci beaucoup? Toddle along to the pool area to bag one of the solarium deckchairs reserved for site customers, for a serene afternoon instead under the Provence sun. A lounge area and spa with sunbeds and Jacuzzis too is to hand for relaxed types too, or you could settle down for a spell on the restaurant terrace, for spectacular lake views, breakfast, luncn or dinner (or indeed all three).
You can buy freshly-baked bread on site each morning; for other food shopping, make the three-kilometre journey into La Brillane to browse its supermarket and shopping centre. There are a few restaurants here as well, and a traditional bistro is in Niozelles.

Local attractions
These serene green settings are a few minutes' drive from Niozelles, a comely Provence village in the Beveron valley. From here, it's only a kilometre or so to Forcalquier, the ancient town surrounded by lavender and olive groves that in Roman empire days of yore was a vital point of the trade route between Italy and Spain.
For spectacular views over the Provence landscape, trek behind the 12th-century cathedral of Forcalquier to its Old Town, then take the path up the hill to reach the citadel and the Chapel of Notre-Dame-de-Provence. Back in town, turn right to reach the cloisters of the 13th-century Convent of the Cordeliers, or make sure your Forcalquier wander is on a Monday, for the famed and lively market.
From Forcalquier, drive east to Lurs, high on a ridge above the olive groves of the Durance valley, and west to Oppedette, for the deep Gorges d'Oppedette and their three hiking trails. Further afield, in the opposite direction from Forcalquier, a drive of an hour and a half will take you to the spectacular Gorges du Verdon, for hiking, rafting, kayaking and some of the most splendid scenery you'll see anywhere in the region.
