Power optional grass campsite

Liked Friendly hosts of a small site of just 4 pitches and 2 static caravans. Suited us perfectly for a night stopover. Lovely views over open countryside, a little bit of road noise but nothing untoward and we slept soundly. Will happily stay again when in the area.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked A refreshing simple no fuss site, that takes you back to nature. Fantastic views over farmland, a distant church clock chiming. Don’t be fooled by your first impression as you pull onto the site. The old barn has some history and Ian can tell you about his historic finds, and details of timber used for the Notre Dame Cathedral. Pitch as you like on your plot. 4 different nationalities there which led to some interesting chats using what ever helped to get your story across.

From the manager: Merci pour votre avis.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked Small site only four touring pitches with electric hook up large pitches. There was only one shower/ toilet combined but that was no problem. The couple who run the place were lovely very chatty and brought us a cuppa and biscuit on arrival. Nice little touch. It’s not very close to a town but we used it as a stopover and would definitely use it again. Although quite close to the road we never heard traffic noise we just slept in the peaceful place.

Disliked Nothing

Power optional grass campsite

Liked Lovely friendly hosts from the UK. Lovely big pitches. Shower, toilet were large. Chickens were fab. All in all a lovely nights rest before moving on and the weather was good.

Disliked The only downside was the road noise but they can't do much about that.

From the manager: Thank you for your kind words. Pleased you had a lovely nights rest and we hopeful to see you again in the future.

Local attractions

There’s a good bit to do within easy reach of Camping La Patte d'Oie, whether you’re after strolls around historic sites, adrenalised outdoor adventure or some family fun based around the lake. First up, there’s heaps to do at beaut Bagnoles-de-l'Orne, a pretty old spa town with hot spring baths and a rather ample range of leisure facilities including a big public outdoor pool, tennis courts, a crazy golf course, cycle paths and a lake (with pedalo and rowing boat hire). A nine-hole golf course also lies nearby, and you can take to the town’s Vélo Rail to trip through d'Andaines forest too. The much larger 28-hectare lake at La Ferté-Macé (a fast 15 minutes’ drive from La Patte d'Oie) also has a whole stack of family activities to get stuck into: apart from pedalo boating, windsurfing, canoeing and fishing on the water itself, there’s an outdoor playground for kids to clamber around, as well as a climbing wall, a miniature golf course, volleyball, boules and a walking circuit around the lake’s perimeter. For something history based, visit the castles and medieval gardens of Lassay-les-Châteaux, or the town of Domfront, where there’s a medieval castle and old town as well as the Rouellé marshes for a bit of wildlife spotting and birdwatching.
