  • Well-located Occitanie site on the edge of the village of Sorèze
  • In Haut Languedoc Regional Natural Park; Carcassonne 50 mins' drive
  • Swimming pool, snack bar and bike storage/maintenance area on site
Take off to the Tarn region and an Occitanie location that’s well placed for a holiday packed full of variety. Camping Saint Martin is on the edge of the village of Sorèze, putting it within easy reach of all sorts of activities and attractions including hikes, bike rides, watersports or outings to places like Albi, Toulouse and Carcassonne. Managers Sandrine and Sébastien are on hand to dish out useful local knowledge on places to go and things to do. Staying on the edge of the village is handy when it comes to things like shops and restaurants (of which there are plenty within a few minutes’ walk), and staying on the edge of the Haut Languedoc Regional Natural Park is equally handy if you’re planning to get out and explore the scenery (or just settle on site and take some of it in from the terrace of the swimming pool…) That pool will be the highlight for many, but there are other ways to fill your days too, including a pétanque court, a ping pong table, a trampoline, kids’ games and a library with board games. There’s also a snack bar where you can get breakfasts (order the night before), fast food, ice creams and hot and cold drinks. If you’d rather be self catering, you can pick up essentials at the grocery store and order fresh bread or pastries for delivery. Other handy facilities on site include a bike area (with secure storage, a bike wash and some basic repair kit), a launderette and toilets and showers (including accessible facilities).

Local attractions

A stay at Camping Saint Martin puts you within easy reach of all sorts of excellent days out, including visits to the towns of Castelnaudary (half an hour’s drive), where craftspeople still work in traditional ways, producing things like classic cassoulet pots (fittingly enough, as this town is often known as the ‘capital of cassoulet’). Castres (half an hour), home of the Goya Museum, and medieval Lautrec (35 minutes) are worth a trip too. A little further afield but easily day-trippable are places like the ancient city of Carcassonne (50 minutes) and Albi (an hour), known for the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum and Fashion Museum. There’s also plenty to fill a day in the ‘pink city’ of Toulouse (an hour), including Basilica Saint-Sernin, Capitole de Toulouse and the Cité de l’Espace. Staying closer to home, you may like to visit the pretty village of Revel (10 minutes), to see its half-timbered buildings and shop in the market, or head to Saint Ferréol Lake (10 minutes) for walks, swims from the beach and watersports like canoeing or windsurfing.
