Piscine du camping

  • Peaceful lakeside site with direct access to a sandy beach
  • Limoges city and Reynou zoo a short drive away
  • Waterskiing, wakeboarding, fishing and lake swimming, and outdoor pool
Watersports bods and beach bums will be bowled over by the location of this lovely spot: surrounded by scenic countryside, Camping du Lac de Saint-Pardoux is on the shores of Saint-Pardoux lake, within ambling distance of a lake beach and water-based pursuits like waterskiing and wakeboarding, as well as fishing and swimming. The park is just over half an hour’s drive from the department capital Limoges, and a zoo is in Reynou, 20 minutes further south of the city. The locale is brimming too with fine châteaux like Lastours, Rochechouart, Châlucet and Montbrun, all reachable in around an hour or less by car, so you’ll have your fill of historical attractions while here too. There’s plenty on site to please all ages: as well as direct access to the lake’s shoreline there’s also a pool to lie alongside while offspring partake in yet more waterside fun, and a playground, pool tables and pétanque courts are on site too for time out of the water. During July and August, staff also organise events and activities to keep guests plenty entertained during their stay. Pick up freshly baked breads and sweet treats from the on-site bakery, or grab something more filling from the restaurant, to be washed down with a tipple from the bar. Barbecuing is also an option here, and supplies can be procured from the park’s grocery store. The accommodation areas are roomy, and all the mature trees and hedges dotted about the grounds offer partial shade to sunned-out guests. Three bathroom blocks are around too, so you’ll never have to go far when in need of a comfort break or shower.

Liked: The location was great, set bedsides a beautiful lake with its own beach and water sports - would be fantastic in the summer months! Huge toilet/shower block was fairly new and extremely clean and heated which was a bonus! Lovely walks around the lake. Convenient stop off en route to Spain.

Disliked: Not a dislike but would have liked Wi-Fi at the pitch. It rained for most of the time we were there so we would have had something to do!

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: The lake is stunning, the woods are peaceful and beautiful. We saw a coypu and lizards, and heard lots of owls. The camp is in a great location, you can walk or cycle to nearby Bistrot La Forge (which has a separate vegan menu) and check out the pretty village.

Disliked: The facilities are pretty basic, I guess it’s more sustainable not to renew but you did have to steel yourself before showering etc. Okay if the weathers good but a bit bleak if it’s chilly. On balance I’d still recommend, the pool is also nice and the chap in the bar was friendly.

Liked: The site was OK. The pool is quite cold but the boys preferred the lake and the watersports. On site restaurant was great and service very friendly.

Disliked: No onside shop and you need a car for the supermarket. Toilet and shower block were OK but not the cleanest. No water with the site plot

Liked: Nothing

Disliked: Very untidy, overgrown, nothing open in June. We had to tow a motorhome off it’s pitch as it was stuck in mud and long grass.

Liked: Everything. The people on the site could not do enough for you. The facilities were spotless and cleaned everyday. The pool, bar and restaurant area were very close together. The lake with the beach was very clear and you get the chance to do water skiing if want to do a bit of adventure. Thanks to Pitch Up for finding this site at an incredibly low price for 7 nights. We would strongly recommend this to any visitors

Local attractions

The sandy beach of Saint-Pardoux lake is accessible right from the site for lounging or watersports activities like waterskiing and wakeboarding, and a watersports centre is also close by should you wish to try out anything else active on the water. Take the kids to the zoo in Reynou to meet more than 600 critters from five continents; set most prettily around a 19th-century castle, it’s a splendid spot for a family day out, with ambles around its grounds a topping option too. Over in the city of Limoges, lots of restaurants, markets and shops make for a splendid town-based day out. The martyr village of Oradour-sur-Glane is also well worth exploring: the only site of its kind in Europe, this once-thriving village’s fully preserved ruins are a memorial to the civilians who perished there after it was razed to the ground during World War II. For yet more historic spots, several excellent châteaux lie within an hour’s drive, including those at Lastours, Rochechouart, Châlucet and Montbrun.
