What customers say

This campsite gets high marks for its clean, modern facilities like hot showers and a warm welcome. Guests loved the scenic riverside spot near the Chapeauroux viaduct and the snack bar's fresh baked goods. Great trout and salmon fishing is right there. The steep, narrow entrance is manageable. It's recommended for its peaceful vibe and friendly host.

2 bedroom ready tent

Liked We turned up soaked on our bikes in the rain and received a very warm welcome. Nice campsite, clean and modern bathrooms with hot water, nice snack bar with reasonable prices, we could order freshly baked pastries and bread for the next morning. Beautiful location under the chapeauroux viaduct and next to the river would definitely stay again. Oh and safe place to leave the bikes out of the rain overnight! Would recommend.

Power optional grass and earth campsite

Liked Very welcoming host Jean-Pierre. Very clean site, and toilet/ shower facilities. Very spacious grass pitch with hook up. Excellent Trout and Salmon fishing only 10 metres from site.

Disliked Very steep and narrow entrance/exit to main road but easily navigated.

Local attractions

In the mountainous landscape of the Margeride region, the Reserve Bisons Margeride Europe (half an hour’s drive) is home to – you guessed it – a herd of European bison. You’ll be able to see these furry prehistoric beasts and admire the views from the comfort of a horse-drawn carriage. A half-hour drive also takes you to Lac de Naussac. Whatever your favourite recreational activity, chances are you’ll be able to practise it here, from hiking, biking and horse riding (trails run all around this expansive lake) to watersports like sailing, canoeing and windsurfing. A fishing centre rents boats, so you can also row to a quiet spot on the lake to catch carp or zander. If you’re after more thrilling water-based activities, head to the Gorges de l’Allier (50 minutes) where you can go whitewater rafting or canyoning among a dramatic landscape of forested ravines. There is also a tourist train taking you to hidden beaches and trailheads.
