What customers say

This peaceful, well-kept campground offers spacious, private, often shaded sites with great views. Clean facilities (showers, toilets) are generally praised, though some noted limited availability. Friendly owners, an eco-friendly approach, and a great location near a supermarket and village are highlights. The pool is clean but can be chilly. Some visitors noted insect bites, a lack of organized activities, minor waste disposal issues, and limited WiFi.

Liked The location was lovely, the town of Saissac in walking distance and the chateau history was interesting. A free bus ride to Carcassonne is a must. Be aware the last bus home is at 18:10.
The campground is geared to nature, being mindful of water usage. The facilities were all good. Laundry and dishwashing area is perfect for your needs. Toilets - make sure you bring your own loo paper. Showers do the job. You have to keep pushing the on button. But this saves on water. The shower & toilet block shut from 11pm for cleaning and for the night apart from 2 toilets and a wash basin.
The views were amazing from the camp and the ruins of the chateau.
A short 5 minute walk out of camp brings you to a grocery shop. It has everything you need. Next to that is a butcher. He shuts at midday. Get there early because the queues are long.
Stéphanie and Jean-Louis work very hard. Their philosophy of nature conservation shows around the campground.

Disliked Nothing really.

Liked While site was lovely and well kept. Hosts were also very nice. Showers were clean and hot. It was nice and quiet at night too. The pool was inviting but cold 🥶. WiFi at the bar. Although we didn’t have children there were plenty of activities for them.

Liked The views were great. The pitch sizes were good and even had choices of sun and shade. Facilities were good, with plenty of hot water showered and toilets were clean but you need your own toilet roll. The owners very friendly and even gave me a cork screw as I had forgotten to pack mine. Wi-Fi free at the site but only by the bar area and reception

Disliked We were unfortunate to have mixed weather there so we did experience rain

Local attractions

Local town Saissac has been settled for centuries around the 10th-century château – one of the biggest castles in the region and the oldest one of the Cathars. Reach its strategic position at the entrance of the Black Mountain from the side of the village; the castle is open daily. For day trips, it’s well worth the 55 minutes’ drive to the Gouffre de Cabrespine, one of the biggest caves in the world open to the curious public, and one of 24 caves in the south of France making up a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also UNESCO-listed are the Limousis caves (50 minutes), and a historic destination of a different flavour at the spectacular Canal du Midi, just over an hour’s drive away. Must-see urban sites from here include the 14th-century bastide town of Revel, 20 minutes away; Castelnaudary, within half an hour, and another UNESCO World Heritage Site in the medieval city of Carcassonne, 35 minutes’ drive away.
